<div class="IPBDescription">can't wait to get it :O</div> KOTOR is out on PC now! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> I played it briefly on X-Box when I conned my friend into renting it, and all it did was leave me wanting more more more. And I never even got to a part where I get a lightsaber or any force powers! He never even bothered to play it for the rest of the rental period cause he isn't an RPG guy. Well, I'm not a big heavy one, but I like KOTOR anyway, even if it is from the same people who made the absolutely horrible Baulder's Gate and Neverwinter Night games... <span style='color:red'>You earn a shiny new member title for this opinion.</span>
Does anybody have it on PC yet? How does it control vs the X-Box?

2nd off... you haven't even seen the best parts of KOTOR if you haven't gotten to the Jedi parts yet. Amazing storyline, and the 2 different endings for Light and Dark rock...
It's one of two games that I refuse to part with on my XBOX.
Oh, NWN smells. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
And what's up with this KOTOR? Is it anything like Jedi Knight?
KoToR. THanks for reminding me DOOMeh. Now i got a game to get for mah B-day.
Two paws up.

Also NwN is good with a group of people you know, and a server with a DM. It just needs backstab for Rogue/Assassins.
edit:
Also, on the topic at hand (KOTOR)... there are multiple sidequests that can keep you entertained, and there are reasons to revisit worlds to complete quests. Almost every planet you visit will give you memorable moments. Everything from going through training at the Sith Academy to poisoning (depending on alignment) the ocean world's kolto supply. There are conflicts between your party members, and they throw in a homocidal droid just for the hell of it.

Blasphamer!! Nothing is better than my Fallout!! What other RPG has mutants, sniper rifles, flame throwers, rocket launchers, and Dogmeat (except for Arcanum). <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Anyway, I own KOTOR for my Xbox (fends off xbox haters with his red and blue lightsabers) and I say it is a great game. Yeah, I never use guns either, because the lightsabers are uber-powerful (of course) and the moves you can do with them are killer!
But, I still wanted to be a wookie or Twilek, oh well, I guess I will just kill the drunks at Tarsis to relieve my anger and embrace my dark side. <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->

Yes, he has the best lines too!! Its hilarious when you fail at repairing him!
Mwahahaha, my evil character had a red double sided lightsaber, he was a Sentinel, and he had the mullet haircut, he was pure evil. I also enjoy how your Light/Dark descion affects your character appearance and the background on your character screen.
I still laugh everytime I do something evil. Its just so much more fun to be evil. Saving the guy from bounty hunters, and then demanding money from him, mwhahaha. Also, getting the "Romeo and Juliet" parents to shoot each others kids and then get into a war, pure evil!!
Oh, so it's like Baldur's Gate with lightsabers. Except BG already had moonblades. Sounds coo' anyway <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
Coming on PC? I don't do consoles, they are bad for your health. Except N64+Mario Kart, which is all <b>good</b>.
Oh goodness me, I played it for 10 minutes on the XBOX and resolved then and there to buy it for PC the moment I upgraded. This is THE best Star Wars RPG I've ever seen. It's so immersive, and you can tell that Bioware really cared about not abusing the liscense. You won't see them mispelling Wookiee any time soon.
I'm thrown in some stupid village and told to solve the mystery of the plague. Hardly compelling.
Not to mention it was on 3 CDs and sucked up nearly 2 gigs of hard drive space and... god what the hell was taking all that space?!
Knights Of The Old Republic left me wondering why
the hell EVERY single person in that game couldn't answer
a question normally!? They didn't half bang on about pointless
crap.
NeverWinter Nights had great plot(s) and the online features were great.
As well as an active modding scene with some amazing user made mods.
I remember on one server, the Host was the Dungeon Master,
we were all gathered in a nice big circle and the DM would summon
a monster. We'd all run in and beat the hell out of it, killing it and
sharing the XP. The DM then "accidently" summoned a HUGE Dragon.
I swear, you've NEVER seen a circle of people scatter so fast!!!
Oh how we laughed. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
So much potential, so much love, forever tarnished.
I'll still give it a crack, though <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
EDIT: I'm <i>slightly</i> overexaggerating there, but only slightly... I can see the verbal attacks coming <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

D&D has the blessing that it's fairly simplistic (Up until the last edition which completely nuked and rewrote half the rules). It's like the 'Windows' of RPGs.
You're only missing on one of the greatest pre-HL singleplayer and most balanced multiplayer games of all time. (I say "one of" for singleplayer because it is good for many of the same reasons the System Shock series was good). It's nothing amazing now that JKA is out, but you've got to think in terms of how back then, HL wasn't out. And when HL did get released, it didn't have its current netcode, nor did it have anything more than DM.
[edit]On-topic, I'm probably going to cut a deal with my best friend. He'll buy KOTOR, I'll buy Deus Ex 2, and since both are singleplayer only, we'll swap when we beat 'em. Worked great for Max Payne 1 and...darn, what was that other singleplayer game around at that time? Probably nothing memorable.
Here, I'll go for double bant:
I thought Baulder's Gate was so crappy, I GAVE AWAY my copy to some random guy in class who never got to play it. I'm just happy there's more space in my drawer for other cds!
And NWN? I did give it an honest try. But I got bored of that before even making it out of the barracks... Soooo slow paced...
There is no scratch on the cd or anything, but ohwell....Other than that constant error, I'd give the game a 9 out of 10. It's extremely fun, especially how your character changes throughout the whole game. Being a dark jedi is the best.... <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
