Maybe it should take some skill to reply to threads as well. And how would the USA's economy be great if Bill Gates wasn't alive?

Lastly, he's donated so much to charity, your petty little "ohmg microsoft crash !!! THEY WAENT MAI MONEYS" idiocies are worthless.

Yeah, if MS had never existed, everyone would be playing NS on a Mac right now... Or maybe on a BeBox, or even a NeXT box... or an Amiga...

As for the video... I find it amusing that Microsoft would choose to portray itself as the little guy fighting against the evil Linux institution...

    How much have they donated?

    <a href='http://www.gatesfoundation.org/nr/public/media/annualreports/annualreport02/finGrants.htm' target='_blank'>A lot.</a>
    <a href='http://www.gatesfoundation.org/nr/public/media/annualreports/annualreport02/finActivities.htm' target='_blank'>I mean, a HELLA lot</a>

Bill and Melinda Gates are, per monies donated or earmarked for their trust, the most charitable individuals in the history of the US and probably the human race. To say otherwise is to be... wrong.

Not to mention: Linux is free. Windows is not.

Now think of how much Windows has boosted the economy in it's entire existence.

Let's assume each version of windows sells, about 30 million +10 from previous, and costs 75$ on average (i know it's more)
Now, Let's say the government gets 15% of the sales
    Starting from when I remember

    Windows 3.x -- 30 million copies, 30,000,000 x 75 = 2,250,000,000$. $337,500,000.

    Windows 95 -- 40 million copies, 40,000,000 x 75 = 3,000,000,000$. $450,000,000.

    Windows 98 -- 50 million copies, 50,000,000 x 75 = 3,750,000,000$. $562,500,000

    Windows ME/2000 -- 60 million copies, 60,000,000 x 75 = 4,500,000,000$. $ 675,000,000

    Windows XP -- 70 million copies, 70,000,000 x 75 = 5,250,000,000$. $787,500,000

Now, this is just Windows. Remember that microsoft makes other products.

You confuse easily. It's all his money. Every last penny of the 23 Billion dollars he has donated to it. Yes billion. The foundation is named after him.

Say what you want about Bill Gates, but he has provided more humanitarianism than any human in history. A fact usually ignored and glossed over by MS player haters.

OMG MICROSOFT MAKES GOOD USER INTERFACE! DIE M$!!

You can critizise Microsoft for a lot of things, but making an Operating System that almost anyone can use and understand is a good thing. I can see from the other posts that you made on this thread that you are not irrationally hating Microsoft, but this particular statement is just really wrong.

Ah but see, I don't think that most people can use and understand it. Ever try teaching a grandparent how to use a computer? ANY computer? equally difficult to teach them MacOS X, Windows, and even KDE. Only people who spend lots of time on computers (like us) ever notice the features that make Windows or Quartz more friendly than X11. If there is one thing that you cannot critize MS for, its that they're evilness has helped drive Open Source development to where it is today.
