someone actually say something about the game! what new features separate it from the first one? or is it just, like, new plot, new areas, and new weapons? if so, *yawn*

    About the game?

Basically it is just new weapons, new plot, and new levels, but if that's not enough to make you play it, why did you even play the first one?

But also there are a lot more details added in that make it good. PLUS NO MAZES!

The obvious (graphic updates, the stuff you listed)
    The full's mazes are shorter
Havok physics debut; if you want to see what'll get used in Deus Ex 2 and HL2, see this
"New York Minute" unlockable mode <s>replaced</s> added to "Dead Man Walking", roughly equivalent to deathmatch in singleplayer -- only you don't get to respawn when everyone else does.
Different handling of bullet-time; encourages you to rush through like a killing machine/action movie hero.
[following item edited to remove possible spoiler]MP2's best missions are those where you co-operate with other character(s). Two particular levels are memorable. True networked/internet co-op and multiplayer are just as missing as they were in MP1.

So I downloaded it... and I played it... and I need new pants.

Dead Man Walking is AWESOME (and no, it didn't replace New York Minute, it was just added on).

6 MINUTES 47 SECONDS DEAD MAN WALKING!

    HOLY FAREAKING CRAP!

I love the new second type of bullet-time. it's actuallly useful.

plus it makes Max reload a clip in the time it takes a shell casing to drop.

I was wondering a few things about the game, even though I haven't played it.

    Off reviews that I've read:
Why does Max look like he turned 30 years older? No more of that neat look he had in the original.
How'd Max get out of jail? Last game ended with him about to be arrested, or so it seemed.
If Max is mourning over his wife that badly, why is he having an affair with another woman?

    Just did 6 minutes and 50 seconds on Dead Man Walking. Beat ya Smoke Nova <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> *edit* now on 10 minutes 40 seconds

Not tried the other type of Bullet Time yet. Must remember to.

The new look Max Payne does appear, well, weird to me. The version in MP1 constipated look was just....unique. Theres no other word for it. I don't know why they changed it <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

The way he gets out is kinda explained in MP1, at the end. But it is also explained at the start of MP2 for those who can't remember

And just cos his wife and kid are dead, doesn't mean he can't love another woman, but he still wants revenge. Over what yet we don't know, cos we've only played the demo <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> . He did kill the person who caused it after all, so who/what exactly has he got left to extract his revenge on?

Now all we need is an Equilibrium mod for it, and all will be right in the world.

Oddly, you can make max do that one cool move from equilibrium in it, where he spins around, guns out. Surprising, but I don't like it personally.

The reason Max has aged 30 years in appearence(when its only 2 years really), is because they got a whole new writer for the whole thing, and the first Max Payne was just the writer's face on the body. It was a temporary they never took off because they never knew how they wanted him to look. But when you think about it, he lookd young to have a wife and kid(he barely looked like 20 to me...). The writer said it'd be better, and more believable for a middle-aged guy to do this kind of thing, so they changed some of the original Max Panye's charictaristics(as far as I know).

To say the least, I got it working, and I'm gonna get this game, SOMEHOW. Don't ask me how, just trust that I will. Its amazing. My Dead Man Walking score isn't too good(only 1:52), but its a blast, as is the game, and the style it has. I'm surprised at the quality, its just amazing.

The thing that makes me happy the most- the fact that the coding is still just as good. I'm achieving stuff on my still clunky PC(upgrading soon, I swear. Its taking forever for some reason) that I couldn't run on my XBox with a decent framerate. I'm getting a FPS average of 24, and...wow. All the effects are great, I really love it.

Well, sorry, to gush. It roxor.

Well, not 30 maybe, I haven't got the game, just played the demo, so I don't really know.
That and iirc, the programmer guy they used as model went to work for another game company. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
