Australia Vs England
For those of us who follow (Or have to put up with it, thank you very much working at a bar) this coming weekend marks the final of the Rugby World Cup.

So where will you be, and who will you go for?

I shall be at a very large 500 player lan, watching it on a screen that rivals most small cinemas.
I shall be going for Australia, mainly because I don't follow the damn thing... yet I'm Australian... so I guess it's a given....

Yay! A sport England doesn't suck at!

I'm just glad we beat France, I don't care who wins now as long as we beat France.

The same applies to Germany and football.

Five nil, five niiiiil, five nil, five nil (to the tune of amazing grace) e.t.c.

Whatever happens somebodies b0xx0rs are going to be r0xx0red, and it would be nice if it was the Aussie's b0xx0rs.

    France played so badly

Anyone know why France has 1 year of perfect sports, beating everyone by quite some margins, followed by a couple years of absolute shitness, and eventually having one year agains really good results?

I'd go for a tight game, slightly favored for England, but quite close nonetheless.

England were at least partly responsible for that. They put them under pressure on all sections of the field. In the 2nd half, France barely got out of their own half. For the conditions (it was p*ssing down), France played the wrong game - they tried to run the ball. England played it right - they kicked, or rather, Jonny kicked Oh, and Michalak had a 'mare, poor lad. Credit where credit's due, England read the game, played it and won it - they beat the French fair and square.

When you're playing France, at whatever sport, you never know what team are going to field against you. As you say, they could be either sparkling or downright awful. And they're easily rattled as well as was demonstrated in the rugby semi-final - 2 sin-bins for, basically, petulance. But then look how they cruised the group stage and how they destroyed the Irish in the quarters (who might as well not have turned up).

I'm looking forward to the final. If England read the Aussies right, play their own game and play it at their best, they'll win it with ease. However, as was demonstrated against the joint-favourites New Zealand, Australia went in as underdogs and won it.

I'm going for an England win. Caaarrmmm ooooooonnn yuuuuuuuu Ennnggeeerrrrlaaand !

    AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!

Btw best of luck to England.

On a side note, I can't believe New Zealand came so far through the comp, and played so well, to go down to what had until now been a sub-par Aussie team.

I'm here to save the day, Infinitum! GOOOOOOO AUSSIE!

Although, i wouldnt really be distraught if england won, as they need a little pick-me-up. Hell, we beat them at everything else, especially at the games THEY MADE UP

    HEHEHEHEHEH

edit: although i dont watch the actual games themselves, i like watching some small clips of the highlights whenever it comes up and im present in the room. and i like hearing about how aussies cane

Hehe - best of luck too Ryo-Ohki. It's going to be a hell of a game. I always wanted an Aussie-England final - those two have pots of rugby history.

England are playing better rugby. Anyway, I reckon its England's turn to win for all the times you've trounced us in the rugby and the cricket in the past. What better time to do it than at the Australian hosted world cup ?
  • eedioteediot Join Date: 2003-02-24 Member: 13903Members
    Two things:

    a) Nobody except the blatant english supports care that england wins [if they win], because everybody else realises that australia absolutely PWNS in everything else. your celebrations are FUTILE. also, it matters not that it is hosted in australia, its not some personal defeat or mockery or insult to us. suckers.

    also,

    b) Its hosted in australia?!?!

hey, i should probably pay more attention

its just the fact that you have pwned us in almost every sport we invented, that its about time we won. in your country.

it may be only a little knife, but we are gonna twist it as far as it can go

    (ps, Nil_IQ, it was actually 5 - 1)

should be an interesting match, simply because theres no clear winner

but when it comes to sport, competition, and hey, pretty much anything, who the hell do you see come out top most often? australia

    why?

    because it has me

why do i not get any recognition?

bah, tis a cruel cruel world

Best of luck, England. Try to refrain from f4'ing .

I've often wondered (mostly about Cricket) whether it's depressing for other countries to play Australia. We do have kind of a history of utterly decimating whoever we're playing. I know my friends stay the hell away from playing Goldeneye 64 against me for pretty much the same reason.
