Steam Problems

<div class="IPBDescription">Text Size, LA models</div> I just instaled the most current STEAM update, the NS Steam beta, and now when I play on Steam, I have 2 annoying problems.

1) Text in chat and death/ kill messages is far too large in text size, and seem to be bolded.

2) The Light Armor model shows up as the Jetpacker model.

I haven't had anyother problems people have told about (Luckily <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> ), and these two detract from the Overall Ns Experience<span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'>TM</span>. I have a

RADEON 9000 64 MB with driver version 6.14.10.6396
AMD Athlon XP 2500+
Windows 2000 Professional
Open GL in 1280x1024
I am not running EAX
HL Game of the Year Edition
512 DDR RAM

Thanks for any help I get.

(You can tell I was looking at the FAQ when I was posting, can't you <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> )

    Dunno what to say, but I do agree with you on the font. The font for every HL game on steam is IMMESLY *sp* huge. I hate it. I like it the way it is on won with my 800x600 setting. perfectly nice and small, but very easliy readable

    You have High Detail models turned on (an NS bug NOT steam)

    simply put:
    cl_himodels 0

    into your config.cfg

    hmm, infact.....
    simply try ussing my config and see what hapens <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Thank you Thansal. That fixed my LA problem.

    Now if anyone know how to fix the text?

    (About high detail models, because JP is a LA submodel, I assume High Models choses the 2nd submodel, which supposedly has more polys in other mods?)

    Again, thanks Thansal. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I looked at one that talked about changing TrackerScheme.res. I tried it. It did abosolutely nothing.

    edit the _textscheme.txt file for your res..
    if you run at 640x480 (we are talking about hl, not windows) edit 640_textscheme.txt
    if 800x600 edit 800_textscheme.txt
    and so on..
    there are normal font sizes in there, just decrease them all

    I don't see a _textscheme.txt in my D:\Program Files\Steam\resource. If I open TrackerScheme.res in notepad, I can go down to Font and change stuff, but it doesnt seem to do anything. I got a bunch of 800_blah_blah.tga, .res, a .scc, but the only .txts I see are platform_language.txt and vgui_language.txt.

    Oops..
    _textscheme.txt files are in your Steam\SteamApps\Half life\ns directory, not in steam.. srry

    I think I may have been unclear on this. The ingame popup menu/commander name/commander icons/all the stuff the NS team coded in is fine, and even a little better than WON. In game chat, eg say and say_team text is far bigger than in Won, and seems to be bolded.

    I'll try to demonstrate with the message board.

    Won: Ashaman Joe: Text size
    Steam: <span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'><b>Ashaman Joe: Text size</b></span>

    I am willing to bet that this just might be the new steam font (steam itself changed some stuff)

    I have this huge font from the beginning i use Sh...erm, Steam, whats about 3 weeks. I will take that screenshot today but not now because now im trying to compress 18 088 (~2GB) files with WinZip, WinRar and WinAce all at once which makes my computer a bit slow.

    The fix for the Text size is over on the NS Customisation forum. Apparantly the default scheme is bugged and wont change properly.
