Hail...
Short time Lurker, first time Poster.
After taking a break from HL and all it's mods for almost a year, I grabbed steam the other day and saw mention of NS on the steampowered site. After checking the site out, and reading the forums a bit, I grabbed the 2.0 steam beta and installed.
First off a few comments.
Love the game. Great mix of RTS and FPS. NS is certainly a beautiful game with interesting game mechanics.
I took some time and hosted a server so I could run around and learn a bit of how NS plays before hopping into a pub server. I think I've got a solid grasp of how the game plays and what I'm supposed to be doing in each role and on each team.
That said, I don't like looking like an **** in any server, so I'm looking for some answers and help to make sure I have everything straight.
My questions...
1. Are there keybind scripts available for download or sites where I can grab same? If not, is there a keybind chart someplace I can look over to see which keys do what or is that only in the config file?
2. Are there some map overviews available that a newbie can look over? By that I mean overhead screens of the entire map showing important points of interests, with tactical tips for each map? I'm an information junkie, and love knowing the maps inside and out.
3. Is there a quick tech tree available for each side? A simple flow chart or pdf file showing what needs to happen in order to gain new tech.
4. I've read a bit of the newbie guide and it's a good start... are there other guides available for players to read?
5. Lastly, I get pretty dedicated to the games I love.. so I'm looking for some friendly types to show me the ropes. As a father of 4, with a full time job, I don't really have a ton of time to play, so I don't want to fool around. Anyone interested in helping a noob?

Let's get right to the questions <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

The new binds you'd need to know can be found by searching the forums for "impulse list". By the way, certain commander functions are handled by "hotkeys", not "impulse" commands, and hotkeys cannot be used in binds\aliases which have more than one command in them.

Yes indeedy. There have been one or two threads posted about map overviews; a quick search should turn them up.

I haven't seen one, although I'm sure they're around somewhere. There's no official one because NS is still rapidly evolving; the tech tree gets revised somewhat almost every update. It's fairly easy to pick it up, but I'd suggest you don't go commander until you've got a fairly good idea of it.

All over this forum.

There are one or two threads on that. I can't speak for myself, but there are people out there willing to organise help.
As a father of 1 and having a full time job myself, I know what that life is like.
If you are on the Eastern TimeZone, then PM me and we can arrange some times to go onto a server and I can show you the ropes, I've been playing since last November 4th and can show you some neat little tricks that can help your game improve.
If you haven't read it already, read <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=17&t=44597' target='_blank'>Ha.ze's Guide to NS</a>.
