    I can confirm the hard-disk is fine, as is the CD-ROM, my Video card, and Soundcard. The part where windows loads itself into ram (Splash screen with animated progress bar) Promptly flashes a BSOD i cannot read and restarts, over, and over...and over....

    Sounds like your motherboard. Make sure all the PCI/AGP/memory slots are nice and clean and not full of fluff. Otherwise it may be FUBARed.

    I think I've come to the conclusion it is the RAM.

    I had almost the exact same problem with the GF's lessthanoneyearold laptop <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Turns out all I needed to do was reseat the RAM. You might have to replace the RAM but try reseating it first.
