Chess Peices: Real What to look for? There is dust on the pieces. I've never seen this modelled or rendered in 3d. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it would take lots of work.
Deck and water: Real What to look for? Although the glimmering effect gives it an unreal appearance, the water has little uniformity in shape, and the wood has little uniformity either, suggesting that it's either not a texture or a REALLY intricate texture
Bent Nails: Real What to look for? If you look closely at the nails, the surface has minute differences that would be difficult to create. The nail head isn't perfect, the metal has a small ripple where it was bent, and the texture isn't uniform. The scene looks fake, but you've got to look at the details. The shadows are nice.
Globe Golf Ball: Real What to look for? This threw me. What can I say, this looks fake. The extreme focus (foreground and background blurred), the color and feel of the grass, it just looks bleh. Course, that may be something like astroturf or artificial grass. I guess the best clue is that each blade is slightly different, especially near the tips.
Wine Glass: Real What to look for? See the top of the liquid where it touches the glass? Instead of a line going straight across, it has differences. If you look close, you can see a bubble or two. While it may not be IMPOSSIBLE to create artificially, it would take alot of time for such a small and subtle effect. Similar to the dust on the chess.
Grass with water droplets: CG What to look for? The water droplets look very fake IMO. Although he bends some blades of grass and turns them every which way, the whole thing feels too clean, and the tips of each blade of grass are very similar
Fork and Spoon: CG What to look for? While the texture with the slight scratches in it look very nice, the whole scene has that extraordinary "clean" feeling, and the shadows created by the lighting gives you the feeling that it's artificial
Glasses: CG What to look for? Threw me as well. The lighting is very good, they throw so many shadows and speculars at you that you can't be sure whether it's real or not- the artist took care to keep in the stuff that we can't be sure is real, and leave out any obvious give-away signs, although someone else may have spotted something I missed. Kudos!
Face: CG What to look for? Obvious really; without getting into specifics, it just looks artificial.
Many Nails: CG What to look for? This was another obvious one. See the black mark on the top of the nails? They're identical. Blurring it out of focus may help this artist hide poor textures, but the black mark gives it away IMO. There are a few other clues as well, such as the ground the nails are sitting on.

What can I say? they are good, especially how the photographs looks like CG <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> The Bonus Challenge Results

You missed 4. You've come this far so why not try again and go for perfection. See if you can get four correct answers...

Look closely at the Chess peice's "Castle" peice. It has small imperfections on it's base (scratches) these denote that it is real, since any CG will have large portions of the image "perfect per pixel". the face is too clean; the glasses are too strait and once more, too perfect.
the spoon has no reflection of the camera man, and the grass is too bright and doesn't cast proper shaddows.
No one can model/fake reflections AND double-shadows perfectly like the dice photo to my knowlage. The small spheres are free-floating, and the glass also looks to be free floating; once more, no camera reflection in the glass/plastic.
Good! Seven out of ten answers were correct. You have a good grip on reality. No need to see a therapist. Try again -- you might just qualify for the bonus round!
i got a 6/10 <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Very good! Eight out of ten answers were correct.

You got 4 out of 4 answers correct.
Congratulations! You got them all right!
The golf ball is one crappy photo, it looks SOOO fake, you have to look at the tips of the grass.
As for the bonus round:
Dice: Real
NO WAY anyone could model light that good...
The fake ones are obvious, the glass appears to be floating, and the other fake one is just fake (I forgot and I don't wanna open my browser.

It took me a couple tries on the original though.
The infinate field of chairs on the bonus round looks like commencement on the oval at OSU.

and then 4/4 on the bonus round.
Then again perhaps the fact that I make my living with computers is an advantage.
