A word of advice on 3d cards
Well, my new Gainward GeForce4 is wonderful. It gives me higher framerates and the ability to play games I couldnt before. Problem is, the thing that sets it apart from the other GF4s is busted. The EXPERTool is used to tweak things like gamma and overclocking, but everytime I mess with the gamma, it resets itself when I go into a game or when I restart. Getting REALLY annoying. And when I try to update it or my drivers, Gainward's link is down. And their tech support is no help either. Its a Chinese company and whoever did their website spent one too few years learning English. So to all of you buying 3d cards, Get GeForce4s. But try Visiontek or someone, because Gainwards much-touted EXPERTool is crap.

Ciao.

Hmm. I have a Gainward and it uses the Expert tool. I guess I've never had to adjust the gamma so I've never had a problem with it. But, if you think about it, take away that tool and you still have a Geforce4 card. Technically speaking, you really don't need to overclock it. Turning off the expert tool has never been an issue for me.

Maybe I'll try making some a adjustments later when I get home.

If you're patient, you can get a VisionTek card pretty cheap very soon, as they just went out of business and will be unloading stock like crazy. That's the card I use and it's been sweet. It uses Nvidia's inhouse drivers too, so you get the support going forward.

I just snagged one of their Geforce3s. I've used the card before, and I love both the visual quality and the general overclockability of the card. Oh, and it'll probably be a collector's item eventually, which just adds to the value.

Did I mention I got it for $127?

Oh, and TychoCelchuuu: You think Gainward's english is bad? Check out MSI. Yecch!
