Trilogies...

I hope that both LotR 3 and Star Wars Episode 3 will both be sub-par so that nobody can say how either one was so much better than Matrix.

What do you think about THAT?

For the record, I don't doubt that LotR 3 will kick ****. It's just that in creating that trilogy you have such a HUGE amount of incredible source material to draw upon. It must be really hard to compete with that. However, I am very confident that Episode 3 will only be adequate. And have significantly more hope for Episodes 7-9.

I don't think that they are making 7-9.....at least thats what I heard. I made me mad too, it was supposed to be the trilogy with Mara Jade and Admiral Thrawn and the ysalamiri, which I enjoyed the books a whole lot than the stupid episode one and two stories.

Well I guess it sort of depends on how succesful the franchise continues to be as a whole... These studios have certainly made worse sequel decisions.

    i thought 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 were all the star wars we would ever get?

i mean, sure people would like more, but i was under the impression it was a fully sealed tomb... nothing more will ever happen?

There was a time when we thought 4, 5 and 6 were all we were getting. Sadly we were wrong.

I feel that Star Wars Episode 3 will be sub-par, following suit with Episodes 1 and 2, so you need not worry there. Besides, Star Wars isn't a trilogy. Well, TECHNICALLY it's not a trilogy, but it'll be a cold cold day in hell when i recognise Episodes 1 and 2 as Star Wars movies.

And, well, LOTR has produced two great movies so far, and i have no doubt that the third will be as mind blowing. The Matrix has produced one revolutionary (excuse the pun) movie, one poor movie, and a third i've not yet felt the urge to watch. Sorry, but the LOTR trilogy will blow The Matrix trilogy away.

To be honest none of the 'trilogies' has impressed me much =/

LotRs is probably a good movie but I just can't get past the fact I've read the books like eighty-million times and notice all the stuff they're missing. It doesn't help that when you read a book you get piccies of what happened where from your imagination and because everyone's so different films can never really get it right for everyone (though the shire was just how I imagined it =D ).

As for matrix and star wars... bleh... Matrix is better than the usual grade stuff that churns into the cinemas but I still wasn't that impressed even from the first one and star wars was ok but I still think of it as muppets in space

I thought it was exactly because of the books that they wont do 7-9. Most people already imagined different futures and they were different. He just let them go because, not only he wouldn't have time to do them all, they would change the views some fans already had.

...writing like that hurts my brain.

(but technically that was one movie, and then 2 and 3 were planned together, sorta like how all the LotR films were filmed together and relased at different times, but not exactly)

I guess I'll go with thinking LotR will be the best of those 3...Jurassic Park's is a close second...(despite the 2 books being better...and flowing together and creating a more realistic world). Star Wars has turned to a squirt of diarrhea down the toilet.

I wish they would make a movie trilogy based on R.A. Salvatore's Dark Elf trilogy. Seeing Drizzt on the big screen would bring a tear to my eye. I would think it would need to be done in all CG though, some of the stuff he desribes in the book would be way to hard to do with just makup effects and such. Mezzoberanzan alone would be hard to duplicate, let alone the legions of Drow elves and the Spider Queen handmaidens and the Mind Flayers.

Back on topic though, SW episode 3 will suck. No one is doubting that. LOTR 3 will own bigtime.

Lethal Weapon Trilogy - Before they added the 4th, natch.

Rambo Trilogy - Sure I'd rather forget it all apart from First Blood, but that's besides the point.

    Die Hard Trilogy - Fantastic!

Say, did anyone else notice the one letter difference between deprived and depraved? or between married and marred?

I prefer a threesome to any trilogy...

    whops. Wrong forum.

Indiana Jones and the Alien trilogy (Resurrection was just a bad dream, right?) are my picks for movies that got more than one decent sequels. Okay, neither of them was designed a trilogy, so I don't know if they really fit the bill. And then there is Hellraiser, of course. I guess they're supposed to be horror flics, but I suggest you gear up with lots of soda and popcorn if you plan to watch them. Forget everything past Hellraiser 3, though, for everything after it is not just awful, but awful with added rotten egg flavour!

About Matrix and LOTR, I've not seen Revolutions or Return yet, so I can't really say what these are worth. Both had brilliant first parts, but Reloaded was a total letdown, and The Two Towers is actually a rather bad movie on it's own. FOTR worked much better. I hope the final parts of both trilogies will please me.
