Third Person Talking In Threads
<div class="IPBDescription">is kind of annoying now...</div> Agreed?
For example:
/runs around house
/eats rotten strawberries
See what I mean?
Why not say:
Its like I run around the house and eat some bad strawberries.
Or when you are talking regular and non-imaginery stuff, just be frank and to the point.
Like:
I ran around the house and ate some rotten strawberries.
Try not to talk in third person when you don't need to, because it makes my mind go haywire at times. Or come up with a better system...
Both ways your probably thinking: "screw you..."

but a lot of people do this: *performs action*
that is actually incorrect. brackets are used in scripts (screenplay)
[Zig uses the brackets]
see?
it's just so widely mutated that it's become casual, and i don't really care anymore.
So I could type
/me looks around the room.
And it would turn out as
Grimm looks around the room.
Usually whenever I see someone in forums or aim or something say /me, I tend to read it as their name as a habit.
(creams pants its is so funny)
*frowns at the fact that I used the above expression for the first time

Yea i think this 3rd person stuff can be taken out of hand, but I dunno, use it in moderation and everything is ok. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

you shouldn't.
y should the screenplay culture be allowed to impose their ways. *We* should imperialize *them*.
I ponder the subtleties.
and
/me ponders the subtleties.
Are two very different things. The first seems like I am saying outloud "I ponder the subtleties", which would make people kinda confused because it would now appear that i'm referring to myself in the third person. The second uses the /me (or [] or * or whatever delineator you wanna use) to specify that the following text is an action you are doing, not something you're saying.
Because online communication works almost solely through text, the ability to carefully define exactly what you are trying to convey is crucial.
He awoke several hours later, with his lower jaw unexplainably missing and lying on the ground a few feet away. The pain went away after a while, but the taste of **** was still there.
A bit like what typh said; all that matters is that you understand what's going on. If it annoys you then 'tough' I'm afraid. People are going to do what they want to so if whatever gets on your nerves with no real, genuinely good reason you'll just have to either learn to deal with it or learn to ignore it.
C'est la vie mon cher =3
