I could be wrong, but it may be the Flayra is waiting to see how his NS efforts will pan out. I am sure Flayra enjoys doing this, but everyone needs money and so Flayra would probably enjoy doing this a lot more if he were being paid <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> There are several possibilities:
NS gets adopted by Valve like CS and DoD.
Flayra works out a pay to play system using Steam.
Flayra uses NS to get himself hired at some other developer.
Flayra doesn't like the options he has right now, and decides to stay in the mod community a bit longer.
Sling Blade, I plan on donating some money as soon as I get some more!! *broke and unemployed at the moment**
I'm also currently working on getting into moding and plan on creating a couple maps for NS, cant wait to get ahold of HL2 as well! the possabilities!!
Nemesis Zero, his really looking for a publisher? awesome!! I really want to see NS take off finally!! this mod is so great and superior compared to DOD or CS if you ask me.
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Well I guess NS for HL2 would loose many players because of high HW demands... It's many years since HL release and even now many people can't get decent FPS in NS..<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
System demands for HL are 'artificially high'. HL uses old CPU intensive ways and does not use all the hardware functionallity available to offload the CPU or to use resources efficiently. I would not be all too surprised if NS for HL2 had lower system demands than for HL if it was a simple port which did not add functionality, eye candy or higher polygon counts. HL is hardly scalable at all, a fair bit if your graphics card is the bottle neck, but most often your CPU will be the limiting factor and no amount of fiddling with resolutions and graphical details will help with the possible exception of disabling or limiting dynamic lighting. HL2 promises to be a lot more scalable and even has dynamic LOD. Running with all the HDR effects and pixel shader effects turned on is by no means a requirement to play the game, the benchmarks of HL2 that where released on 'shader day' show that more often than not you will be 'pixel-shader limited', not fillrate limited. This also has the effect of ATi's cards looking extremely well and Nvidias extremely poor as they are more brute force high fillrate cards and have poor pixelshader performance.
i was wondering if HL2 would look great with a GeForce FX 5900 Ultra. or will it look better with a Radeon 9800 Pro. any ideas? I know HL2 was designed for the Radeon cards and they had issues with the FX cards (game looked like it was HL1) any ideas on what I should get?

i dont know where you get your information but the fx does'nt display hl2 like hl1 graphically: rather it displays near the same as the r9800pro counterpart. if i had the choice right now i would buy the 9800 non pro and flash it to pro, given it was an appropriate card that met the requirements for flashing.
I for one would enjoy seeing Natural-Selection being ported to the source engine, maybe the volumetric flame thrower maybe be finally included in ns.
God if Valve got this game they'd run it into the ground faster then you can scream 'F4!'.
Unfortunately everything I can imagine being possible in NS 3.0 or whatnot would require a server of about 50 players <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
Just for my interest, when did Valve start running stuff in the ground? As far as I know, they left both the CS and the DoD crews pretty much free reign. Sometimes, the mod devs <i>are</i> to blame.
