Whats worse is when I try to install my Sound and or gfx drivers it says that the OS is not supported...
I guess I can try to install it manually.

Yeah, but planned and actualy release are two different things. I was wrong in saying 'schedualed'. Especially since I probably spelled it wrong.

It's not gonna be delayed till 2007.
XP was planned in 2001 and came out...well it got delayed one month...big deal.

The "planned" isn't even 2004. Its 2005, thankyouverymuch. Do your homework.

Ya quans actually right...I knew..but I got hopes...

EDIT: Yes you can autohide and shrink it..I like the shrink since whenever you go for the closing X of a program it pops up..lol.

I wish they would just have a barebones Windows OS. Nothing fancy or graphically intense, just something that can run programs and supports hardware. I don't need a huge clock, or all this autohelp stuff, or picture previews of everything, or some huge **** graphical setup program for everything.

Longhorn is the codename for the new Windows OS, also known as "XP with updates and service packs pre installed".

I would use Win 2k Pro but I have heard of incompatabilities with it and some games/programs that run fine on Win XP.

Why do you want to use a OS in Alpha stages?

I have met... let me count... one two... thee.. fifty.. wait... ABSOLUTELY NO COMPATABILITY ISSUES... with 2000... 2000 > XP. Whoever says that 2000 has compatability issues with games need to fool around a bit more. Some games can only be run in admin accounts. Simple enough, just shift click the exe file and do a run as > administrator.

Are you counting games like System Shock 2? which complains that it "Cannot be run on Windows NT"?

I never even knew it existed. My only experience with Win2k was at a lan party where we tried to play SS2 only to have it not work on this guy's win2k system.
  • OttoDestructOttoDestruct Join Date: 2002-11-08 Member: 7790Members
Er.. yea well I guess I'm stretching it a little bit anyway. It doesn't work a whole lot, but it can pretend to run, say, as Win98. I tried it with Mechwarrior 3 but didn't work. Could possibly work with SS2 though. Too bad I can't remember the name of it LOL. All I remember is that its on the Win2k cd <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
