but is simple to use... and learn... im mainly just interested in learning...!

    If you read the <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=4&t=100' target='_blank'>mapping forum FAQ</a> (the one that says read before posting) it has links to all the programs, textures and tutorials you will ever need.

    *EDIT: Also, if you need any questions about mapping answered, please feel free to ask in the <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=SF&f=34' target='_blank'>newbie mapping forum</a>.     I use Valve's Hammer Editor (VHE), it's simple to use and really easy to pick up.

    yea im learning hammer and it's really easy. I'm having a hard time with lighting and i've still got entities to get through but it's going well.

    I prefer QuArK.. myself. Got a nicer GUI, good grouping system, and all round nicer.

    But that's just me, and I've been using it since hammer didn't exist, it was for Q1, and Worldcraft was going down the drain <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Hammer is good program to start with and the new hammer 3.5 is quite advanced so i prefer you to try that..
