Got Me A New Hd

<div class="IPBDescription">But Iv got a problem</div> Iv installed the new HD, the PC BIOS knows its there and its volume, windows xp knows its there and its volume, but how on earth do i enable it so that I can dump my files on it?

    Right click on my computer and click 'manage'. From there, should be a menu option that gives you a look at your drives, and gives you the option to enable them, although I'm at work at the moment and can't recall the specifics, but this should definitely give you a start.

    For Windows XP:

    Start
    Control Panel
    Administrative Tools
    Computer Management

    Computer Management (Local) -> Storage -> Disk Management

    You should be able to figure it out from there. Just look for the new drive and you can format it.

    Be sure to format it in NTFS format.

    Thats all it will let me do, but my other HD is FAT32...

    Don't worry about what format the drive is in. It'll still function the same.

    ntfs keeps other users out of your stuff, XP likes it that way, but if you ever have a crash it will be keeping you out of your stuff too. get another util to format it fat32 please!
