<div class="IPBDescription">how I fixed it</div> I have winXP pro so I don't know if any of you 98'ers will be able to do this. But I first installed ns from copying my won ns folder over to my steam ns folder. I got that ex_maxerrordistance alias in my autoexec file and never had any trouble. Only problem was the first game I played on steam was counter strike, so whenever I looked for servers and tried to play from the desktop server browser it always tried to start counter strike. That and too much junk prompted me to format my pc. After the format I just installed steam(not won hl) and used the ns_beta steam install to do it. No problems except I kept getting that "cannot allocate more than 128 HUD sprites" error after about an hour and a half playing. Finally got fed up with it and uninstalled steam and deleted the folder. Then I re-installed steam and played half life first(so I could launch from desktop server browser) and used the old non steam ns2.0 install, when it asked where to install I chose the half life folder in steam. Then created and autoexec.cfg and put my ex_maxerrordistand alias in there and havent had one error since(about 4 hours playing one time). In case you dont know about the alias and are too lazy to search, put this in the autoexec.cfg exactly as below.
alias "ex_maxerrordistance" ""
should fix it all.
