Ns_nirvana near to basic layout completion!

<div class="IPBDescription">Im very near! :)</div>well, after some heavy changes in the layout ive managed to take a HLTV screenshot from the map so to explain the layout and to be given any suggestions, help, etc...

This is the layout. The blue part is wut i have left to do. There are no welders or alien passages drawn as i havent managed to think about their best position, etc... all the things that you dont see here and you think should be, please tell me.

Also, from each hive to hive or to marine spawn there is at least 30 seconds. dont worry about it. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    I think that's pretty good.  There's a bit of disparity between the distances from the marine spawn to the hives, which may have some gameplay ramifications.  I think the rightmost hive in particular is a bit far from the marine start, and the path that leads directly to that hive without passing through the center hive should probably connect somewhere else to avoid being so linear.  Make sure you're watching your r_speeds, too, although using the lifts as visblocks will help a lot.  Perhaps there could be another resource node closer to the marines?

    wow its good to see that u managed to get it almost finished before the release <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo--> and i love how nirvana looks, i think that the layout is cool, and the only thing i would add was the resource node that already rhoads mentioned, anyways i think that the right path its all the way free for marines coz it isnt connected with any other part of the map, so if aliens dont spawn at the rightmost hive, all the resource nodes are for the marines....... /me wants to take a look at nirvana when its released <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

    mmm THX alot for the feedback. Ok ill try creating another ways into the rightmost linear part. Maybe ill ake it a 2 way part there before they go to the 2 Resource node room, so that they can move faster, adding there a elevator that join with the little corridor that finaly goes to the central hive.

    The right hive is definitely too far away, and the left and center hives may be too close (you'd have to tell me how long the run is in NSTR), unless that lift is *very* slow.  Also, you tend to have long hallways leading to each hive; that's going to make it difficult for marines to advance, as hallways are much easier to defend.  One mapping tactic that's worked well for levels in playtest right now is to have a kind of antechamber or foyer before the hives; a room where the marines can get in, open up, and maybe even get a foothold on their way to the hive.

    I would also try to add a few more options for navigation, at least around the center of the map - a little more complexity and interest as players navigate their way through the map.  Good work so far, keep it up.  (:

    Oh, one more thing - alien vents?

    Ok, im managed to do some changes so i again post the new HLTV layout for feedback.

    <u>OOOH. notice please that when LIFT is, it doesnt always mean an elevator, i just put it there to show where there is a level change. LIFT can mean stairs, elevator or just a simple ladder.</u>

    I still think the right hive is too secluded, but I like the additional complexity you've put in.  Don't be afraid to expand some of those hallways into full rooms, too, if you get an idea.  (:

    A room at the corner of the legoteeth corridor would be a good - what was it coil said...anchor? And another where the left blue passages hit the left dark passages...I'm too lazy to point out on the pic, but...I hope you understand where I mean

    Heyheyhey you know, that looks like a superb layout...I was thinking about maybe moving the middle hive to one of the upper rooms but actually it's fantastic the way it is, prolly better too. Good job
