<div class="IPBDescription">I hate banks. Yes I used to work at one.</div>... but working at one only made me hate them MORE.
**** I hate banks.
Okay so this month I had to pay some unexpectedly large bills, so I was running low on funds in one of my checking accounts. Very low. As in, $44 was all I had in the account low. On Saturday I needed cash because I was going to the movies + eating somewhere w/ my friend, so I got out $40 from the ATM. No problem right, I still had $4 in there, and there's no minimum balance.
Well I goofed up and forgot that the night before when I was at Blockbuster renting the new Castlevania game I payed with my debit card, not with cash. That charge was $6. When this charge cleared, which for some reason wasn't until after I had took out the $40 from the ATM the next day, it put my account at a balance of $-2.
So then my bank proceeded to charge me a $35 NSF fee, for being $2 in the hole. TWO DOLLARS. And then on top of that, since I didn't magically know I made a mistake, they charged me $5 a day for each day my account was in the hole, for two days (they didn't count Monday I guess), so that's another $10.
So I ended up with a $45 fee for a friggin $2 mistake. TWO freaking DOLLARS YOU freaking ****. And of course there's no type of warning since its the first time I've screwed up, no no they just want to be jerks and charge an arm and a leg for a $2 mistake.
And since I have direct deposit set up with work and a $470 paycheck going into the account tommorrow I couldn't just close the account, as I really can't afford to have the money bouncing around until things got sorted out. And to avoid even more of their damn I had to take the money out of my other checking account at another bank (which also doesn't have the biggest of numbers in it at this time) to pay off everything. But you can be assured that I will be closing my account with them as soon as I possibly can after I get the other one set up to be the one that direct deposits with my work.
I mean yeah I screwed up, it was entirely my fault. But it was just two friggin dollars. With all the fees they charged me, hell I could have bought the damn game if I hadn't rented it... grr..
I swear we're all better off stuffing our money in our friggin mattresses. Or perhaps have an italian resturant owner hold onto it, cause nobody knocks off old Tony...

My hatred for banks stemmed from being ~50p overdrawn, i think i spent something on my card and it took a few days to clear, i thought i was cool. I keep a bank balance in my head, when i know i have no money and i know that i've not got any coming in, i don't check my account.
At this point in time i was out of work, so i didn't check my bank account for an entire month or so. Then i get a letter from my bank warning me that i'm overdrawn. Well, i'll say this, roughly a month (~28 days or so) at £20 a day...........
I now have no savings account because i had to clear it out on this.
My new account has a £150 overdraft, interest free, so i've been using it. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Indeed you could say that his bank "helped itself" there.
We were back home for summer vacation and she would always make sure to check her balance before ever withdarwing $$ (note she was mailing paychecks back to her back for them to deposit them so she never knew exactly when one would go through).
Well no one ever told her that ATMs dosn't display anything near your actualy balance!
she accidently over drew 2 times (before getting the first over draw notice!)
so yah, she calls up and sees if she can get it fixed up... nada (note this was like a few hundred$$s in over drawn fees)
fortunatly the local banc offical that she interacts with waived both fees for her (as they were honest mistakes, that were partialy the bank's fault)
so, she learned quick... yah ow
And go, "REVENGE SUCKAZ!"
Don't go back to that bank, though, because you'll realize it was all for nothing. Heh.
but I found out that if you **** enough at them they will reverse it
Merchants Bank, only exists inside Vermont I think.
Never had an overdraw fee, your allowed like 50$-100$ overdrawn if you pay back within like 1-2 weeks.
That sucks 4 u Doom(bank)
