There was a lerk on my server a while back who was spiking very very fast (with 2 hives, so no primal scream). Everyone was raising holy hell about him hacking, and sent me demos and such. I was just wondering if there is a cheat that allows faster attacking like that (dont care how you do it, or where they get it, i just want to know if it exists or the guy was lagging or something weird on the client side). Any help would be appreciated.

    Its called speed hack. You can spot it because they will attack very fast for a few seconds then appear to lag out.

    Most of the time when someone lags they stop moving, then move really fast after that. The speed hack works the other way around, fast first then slow.

    If they do it once you can probably put it down to lag, but if they are doing it multiple times ban em.

    OK, thanks for the info. I wasnt sure if speed hack applied to actual firing speed or just movement.

    The speed cheats I've seen usually reguire you to press fire to activate theem. So you sometimes see them running around really fast with their knife out with fire held down. Or the speed increase starts just as they start firing at someone.

    If you see that happening then there is no doubt, ban them.

    I also seen a noob Marine a few weeks ago. Was slashing knife and moving with insane speed. No Sir- it was no lag. Cheats... :[

    Really the easiest hack to spot and the only one I've officially seen in 2.0. Although harder to spot with aliens, but rate of fire is affected. Nice to know about the speed then lag or the lag then speed. Makes me think I have another person to go ban....

    When you see a skulk kill a HA marine in less than 2 seconds, you know the skulk is speedhacking.

    It is defenately more difficult to detect on alines b/c celerity can make people run faster, primal can make you bite/spike faster. Once you see an obvious speedhacker once it will be easy for you to spot, there is definately a visible burst that occures. If the aliens have 3 hives when you see it happen, let it slide and watch the guy next game, it could have been some lerk /w primal.
