I mean what is so funny about a marine killing a skulk in a corridor?Why do people have to go "LOL" after making completely normal,unremarkable kills that are designed to BE unremarkable kills?Whats so special about a marine killing a skulk,or a skulk killing a marine in normal circumstances?
Im quite sure some people are doing it on purpose to **** others off.
5/5 hp/armor skulk.I run at a marine.He takes out his knife and kills me in one hit.And brags about it the entire game "OMG I KNIFED A SKULK WOOOOOTTTT".
So you knifed a skulk that your TEAMATES helped you to damage,so you could kill it with a single hit from anything.Big deal.
Some are even more absurd.For example,onos runs in,stomps,devours a marine,runs off and keeps going "LOL" "TASTES GOOD" "FOOD!!!".I mean whats so funny/strange about this?I can see if an onos wipes out 4 ha/hmg by himself,but running in and devouring a marine with stomp?Whats so strange or funny about this?Or how about the onos that keeps killing 0/0 la/lmg marines and bragging about how leet he is?I mean WHAT FOR?Who CARES?
FFS people.GET OVER IT.This is a GAME.People kill and get killed ALL THE TIME.It is NOT funny,nor is it some weird strange occurence like a UFO sighting and neither is it a rare thing that must be treasured at all costs.There is NO need to **** others off by repeateldy bragging about killing a la/lmg marine in 2 hits as an onos,killing skulks with HMG in a long corridor or killing a 0/0 lmg marine with a 30 damage spit as a gorg with fux0red hitboxes.

Another one that gets me is how peoples egos seem to inflate <b>still</b> when they kill an onos. Especially when the onos is shot down by 5-6 marines. The person who got lucky enough to get the last shot out all of a sudden acts like he's the leetest person alive, and is invincible. It's a whole different story if this marine were alone and killed the onos one-on-one, but a team effort went into it, and by luck he happened to be credited for it.
Tauting may seem immature (because it IS) but it's a stratigerum, like any other. It also seems to be quite effective at whipping your teammates into a frenzy. I generally don't stop marines from doing it as a commander - because it increases morale - no metter how horrible it is from a moral standpoint.
EDIT: "Kinife". This is a known reason why I shouldn't be allowed to type anything @ this time of night.

Hunty, I get your point, but I also see what others here are saying. I'd say that, if you really feel MOST of the people doing this are genuine children, you should find another server to play on. There are several quality servers where crap like this doesn't impair entertaining gameplay.

Yes.
It does tend to anger me as a marine when a skulk chuckles after getting a kill. Especially if I had just taken down 3-4 other skulks in the process.
I find it does not contribute to the fun of gameplay. Chuckling players just appear to me as 14 year old kids using the taunts to mast...... Nevermind, my literary wit is far too vulgar for the forums today.
Needless to say. Chuckling after every kill damages the spirit of the game.
However, marine taunts don't affect me in the same manner. I think the nature of the marine taunts fit into the story of NS. They just feel right.
Maybe because "My shrink says I need an outlet for my agression"

In game taunting can be annoying, but its part of the game. I find its more fun to compliment a good player who really "owns" you. I love having the crap scared out of me by a good skulk, and I enjoy the challenge of a smart marine.

Usually derogatory to stomp devourers. But in general its stuff like "ooooh you're a lucky skulk" or "**** I KNEW you were in that vent" or "ah ah ah, no sieges for you mr. riney"
Noone seems to mind, and it keeps it "fun".
We did have one person on the server who kept boasting and making degrading insults. He didn't last long against the almighty admin h4>< of kickbant.
I dunno, I find something horribly funny when I run for my life from the marine spawn in Bast, jump down the elevator, smack the door switch and dive through the closing doors... turn, and see a fade chasing me try to blink through the gap too late. *SQUISH*
But if i chase an onos over half the map.. and finally lmg him to death, or pistol a fade to save my teammate, or drop a mine trap the onos walks on.. shoot/knife an egg, or assasinate a gorge who is trapped in a corner..
Im entitled to my OMG LOLZ "PWNED" U.. long as it is just one time.. and isnt repeated throughout the round as a taunt..
What im getting at here is i can have a good laugh when im "pwned" and have a good laugh when i "pwn" but that word is so overly used that i almost hate to use it except with quotation marks, cuz its just rediculous how overly used it is....
