Personally I'm not waiting for NS, I pop into OT forums now and then, and that's it, the only reason I saw this thread was because I was interested in the title from the main page. When ns is released I'll take a look and decide whether to bother DLing it or not, I'll probably give it a go then crawl back to where I came from, I'm not excited so I'm not going ot be disappointed and more likly to have my head blown apart in amazement.
Other note: This is my 555th post
Seconded
My advice is this: Stop waiting for things to happen. Instead, enjoy what you have now. It will come, whether you refresh this page twice an hour or not. Find something to occupy your time now.
I still am fanatical about the game, but my interest of it is largely on hibernation until I gain some access to it.
Patience is a virtue.
simply stunning ..
When I first joined the PT's - it serioulsy looked and played like a different game.
But, maybe you guys should take a break. The less you think about it, the faster the time will go by.
If anything, I'm getting more excited. Mainly because of something I saw on the news page:
"As we prepare for our summer release..."
i would like to know ... cause the screens themselves make me lust for more. :/
cheers
^_^
Its litterally the only HL mod I play anymore. The game is both fast and slow and the action is both long and short. Theres so much variation and so much thats been put into this game .. its inspiring ...
unfortunatly some people will be disapointed ... its just a fact. But I think many of you will absolutly love the game.

but its just things are kinda slow
im not complaining and saying release it today im just sayin nothin much to do right now
When does summer end?
Damn, I'm speculating again.
The only thing that could make me lose interest in NS at this stage is something like 'NS will be delayed by 5/6 months' or something like that on the news page.
A nightmare I had, that...
Sure, i don't hit the refresh-button every hour, but i spend my waiting-time with something useful(in my opinion), making thoughts about improving, creating NS-related Artwork, pimping NS all over the net...
I'm sure i won't be disappointed, just because i would more likely oversee some bugs than getting disappointed... I mean, it can't be THAT bad...
Summer ends September 22nd.

[ 6/28/02 ]::NS is feature complete
It's rather hard to believe, so brace yourself: as of midnight tonight, Natural Selection is now feature complete. It's been almost two years in the making, but commander mode, the particle system code, 27 weapons, nine alien upgrades, a dozen marine upgrades, over a dozen buildings, a couple NSTRs, and so much more, has all been created. That's not to mention anything about the hundreds of hours spent by the rest of the team on the concepts, models, textures, maps, writing, sound effects, music and everything else that's necessary to make a game.
More features will be added in the future, but right now, we have everything we need for a solid first release. We intend to spend the next few weeks bug-fixing, polishing, balancing and finishing up art tasks. When we decide it's good enough, we'll release Natural Selection for free to the public.

The point: Don't speculate off of little tidbits you read, they could be lying for all you know. Shut up and wait like the rest of us.
When they give "a few weeks" or "soon" or whatever kind of timeleft they want to give, it is always relative.
If I had something and I said it was coming out "very soon" I would mean next week. But you read the archives of the frontpage and past threads that are over a month old that say similar things.
My advice? Take everything with a grain of salt.
Too bad everything's STC! -_- I too have lost that hypeing feeling, y'know... that period where you'd give up your first born to play NS.
Forums have gotten kinda boring as of late, the only Dev that really posts lately is Monse and a couple others (announcing they're leaving to go someplace), No announcements, only a few storys (Of witch I'm thankful for. ^^), and if a certain forum goers math is correct (Sorry, I forgot the name ) then we have roughly 70 more weeks till release (The final 10.1% left to finish).
But whining like this is somewhat futile, but it's a good way to vent. ^^;; The PT's saying how great NS is, is simply salt in open wounds...
Anywho... done venting. I'll get NS whenever... *Breaks out AvP2* -_-
then I realize that I can't do much about it and I'm getting tired of waiting

We are still on track for a summer release, and hopefully much sooner than September 22nd. Right now there are a few showstopper issues being worked out for people with lesser PC's (i.e. software and D3D users), plus some remaining bugs of varying degrees, and some final balance tweaks. I will try to get you more info shortly.
Keep in mind that the quieter we get, the busier we are. So that's a good barometer for you.
This is the point in a mod's development where I want to volunteer my services just to get the thing done faster I felt that way waiting for The Opera, the only other mod I've ever been excited about, and I really want to help do something with NS to get it out the door... But I know that the dev team is full and playtesters are final, so I'll just wait.
Edit: Playtesting on a Wednesday, eh? Odd.
You wouldn't believe how nice it was to see that.
Can't wait...
Waiting stinks, I agree, but as a playtester I can tell you that every day of playtesting has made this a better game. And I use game not mod because this is so far from halflife it might as well be its own game.
Calling NS a half life mod is like calling Medal of honor allied assault a Quake 3 mod (same graphics engine)
Since the playtesters are SciFi aliens fans like most of you, we have beaten the devs over the head with the "change this is stinks, or keep this it's cool" stick quite a bit, and the changes have all been to our liking.
Flay is an amazing developer and an extremely objective, tolerant, and creative person who's lived by "I expect the best or nothing at all" standards since day 1 and we all have an extreme amount of respect for him.
Keep your pants on, and keep a few spare pairs around for when NS is released! You're gonna need them!
Until then, well there's always beer to be drunk and football to be watched..(and I mean proper football btw, played with the feet and a spherical ball..)
Cory=Modeller.....
Lvl 3? SWEET!!!!
