Crashes When I Comm

for some reason now whenever i go comm and try to drop a phasegate my HL crashes. Theres always a few times when it wont but most the time it will. my specs are:

2500+ amd
512 corsair 3200 ddr400
msi k7n2 delta-L mobo
9600 Pro
Fortissimo III sound card
XP Pro SP1

It normally happens if i try to drop a phase gate during a heated battle. It loops a sound and then i get the hl.exe error. Any ideas? This is really annoying because i enjoy comming and now i cant. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'v had almost the same problem with dropping mines while comm'ing (hehehehe).
One thing I suggest is try to turn off high quality sounds, or just turn off the sound all together then try to drop it in a lan game with bots (I doubt anyone would apprecate having a comm in game without sound on because he needs to check something.) then see what happens.
I had a problem where just playing and fighting caused it to freeze up and crash and I found the sound to be responsabile so it might work for you.
The other thing you could try is to fully re-install half-life, update it and install NS again, some other people have suggested this fix but I haven't got around to trying it yet.

This sounds like it can possibly be blamed on sound drivers. Might want to look into updating those or reverting back to a different version that might have worked in the past.
