Does This Happen To Anyone Else?

<div class="IPBDescription">I spend too much time on the net...</div> People can shout "Gary!!!" (which is my name) at me, and i won't notice, or think that they're calling someone else. Yet, my friends little brother insists on calling me "Stickman" in real life, and i respond to that straight away. Even if he's calling from the other side of the field, i'll respond to him. I actually shout at him for forgetting the "X".

Anyway, this happen to anyone else, or am i clinicly insane?

Oh that's not so bad...Sometimes when i'm walking along the hallways in my college and a bunch of idiots are blocking the way i'll mutter to myself: "Commander, drop a welder"

I've never had anyone shout Doug at me before, so I don't know. However, everyone calls me Foy (my last name), so if anyone around me says boy, toy, soy, McCoy, or anything else that sounds remotely close to Foy, I instinctively look over at them. The same goes for anything that sounds remotely close to William or Will.

I used to get called by net name all the time ^^
Most of the people at uni kinda got to know each other through the games we played on the University Lan so we all used to know each other by our callsigns XD

Took a few years but we're almost calling each other by real-life names... almost =3

This was my nickname a long time before it became my handle. Only people that really call me Andy now are my family and the people I work with. I've actually had somebody ask me if I was going to get my name legally changed.

Most people in my year just refer to me as Steve (which <i>is</i> my name of course). People in lower years tend to use my nickname because they don't know my real name. This isn't so much of a problem for me since I go by D in real life anyway, if people call me doctor all the better.

we're both john, but it's somehow mutated into..

less dramatic ones like "chauncey"

and somewhat more dramatic ones like "chancellor dumpster"

I must admit, the first thing on my mind is to say "lol" when i hear something funny.

I think i read on bash.org that someone said to their teacher "s.t.f.u" with the letters, not the words, and he didn't have a clue what he was on about. So, the internet IS useful!

i have this problem too.....

my friends insist on calling me "rose" which is my last name, so if i'm in a really corny mood, and around a flower stand, i pretend to be upset that they are selling my cousins.

but yeah, last name basis came around because in my "group" we have 4 justins, 2 brians, 1 travis, and 1 muladin... <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'>

it gets confusing which justin you wanna talk to if you don't use last name.

i HAVE said LoL to somone's face... i got that "you geek" look back... it was funny, almost made me lol again.

among my friends, we pretty much all use last name's except for people who have harder to remember last name's

Someperson Pepper = Pepper
Someperson Brunell = Claire

heh, my friend sometimes accidentially calls me "doom" in a public place, always gets funny looks.

When we go to quakecon though just as a silly thing to do we do nothing but call each other by our nicks.

He takes it a little too far though as he write "DOOManiac" and "Colquhoun" on the scorecards for golf, bowling, etc... Imagine trying to bowl (my first time bowling ever no less) w/ the big monitor above you saying "DOOManiac" "Colquhoun" "Nanette" and people walking by saying "W.T.F.!??" outloud. Oh yeah and Nanette was only slightly distrubed, as she knows Stephen is crazy. heh.

In a related note: up at work everybody calls everybody else by their initials, except the bosses (Scott, John, Sara, Orin), everybody else is DS, RW (that's me), BG, BS, etc. heh.

oh yea? well, i have a story to top that! i was playing kingdom hearts. i was really enjoying it too. but goofy has this one attack that displeases me. it sounds a lot like my mom saying "david!"(my name). so, i'd be sitting in my room playing, hear that sound, go downstairs expecting that she has something important to say, when she is infact doing nothing. this happened so often that i couldn't stand it, and gave up on the game.
