A great replacement in my opinion <b>if they are to keep it in the game</b>.

I'm still confused of the way it would work. You hear the enemy louder ? Or do you see the messages top left when the commander build something ?

    It's certainly a step in the right direction, though I would still personally take scent of fear for the accuracy of position it gives on marines. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    But don't forget scent of fear won't show you a marine coming from behind. Like I said, I'm still not sure what it means. Do you HEAR more ? Or do you just see the messages top left of what the commander is doing ?

    ah yes, but then I guess my style of play is very much of a watcher in a lot of cases, so there isn't usualy people creeping up behind me that can see me. But for general attacking, I can understand your point about hearing...it sounds like it'd be a boost to the range you can hear things?

    I agree, some clarification would be nice, if it's staying in <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    It is my opinion, after observing people playing counterstrike, that hearing is just as good as seeing. If your good enough, you can identify they're exact position anyways. Actually counting may be tough though. If you can see whats being dropped and upgraded.... just... wow.

    In short, I think I would love this upgrade.

    this sounds really exciting. A benefit other than just build messages would be nice, like amplifying the sounds marine's footsteps/building make. I can't quite figure out if it's supposed to do that or not. Great idea, I never would have thought of it.

    whats focus do? The way he worded it, its sounds like its a diff ability than enhanced hearing

    Hah well, it is definately something better than pheremones, but I can see it as being an advantage to marines if it was just showing you what a commander was dropping... drop some random things over in say, maintenance hive, when your marines are heading to eclipse to take it out. But I'm guessing it will be more like hearing whats going on in south loop from computer core.

    Focus is something totally different, I don't think I can mention what it is but it's a really great idea that would probably take some time to implement and make sure its balanced.

    well, if we get focus, we can always put enhanced hearing with sof as one package

    ie
    level 1: hearing
    level 2: sof
    level 3: hearing and sof

    or something to that effect

    Hey nice thinking!

    You could perhaps bring SoF back to only detecting injured players (or perhaps adjusting it so a more injured a player is the easier he is to detect, so you'll need to get really close to healthy players to pick em up, but a 50% hp one you can spot a mile away), and having the enhanced hearing as it is now bundled into a new, renamed, ability... And clearing the way for focus...

    Bah that's not what I meant and you know it...

    I was trying to find out if focus would be combined with enhanced hearing or if it is considered an alternate upgrade alongside enhanced hearing and would "replace" it... However that's all very long and wordy, not to mention grammatically awkward, so I simplified it.

    that sounds strang, i play NS with my headset on very high volume so i can hear everything that goes on around me, now if i get this upgrade will my ears explode whenever a rine fires a lmg near me ?

    I found out what focus is, it's an upgrade that makes your attack stronger, increasingly so with each upgrade.


    I pray to god this stays in as it would make sensory chambers very viable, and it may even make sensory/movment viable as well, as it could work for gorges (More healspray per spray, combined with adren = A LOTTA LIFE), bigger lifeforms could take down heavy armored marines faster, structures better...

    I hope this stays in, for the love of god...

    A silenced fade would be very deadly, you would need level 2 armor to prevent a sileneced fade from quickly raping a marine in two swipes. Blink in, two swipes is too fast for most to react nevermind kill you with, then blink out.... I could imagine that.     So focus allows you to hear things better? How will this be better than actually seeing them using sof?

    Perhaps they should make the ability "Hive sight" that grants the alien with hive sight (under sensory) the power to actually see the parasited marines from their point of view with the press of a button AND any other alien's point of view. It will never get implemented, but I enjoy thinking up unrealistic ideas. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Just think about all the crazy stuff you could do with that. lol

    lol, tried some flying lessons with adren earlier today; wasn't too successful because I'm not used to it like that so I kept getting stuck in the ceiling and stuff, but it kept the marines busy... even if I did only kill one of them (all LA) before failing to kill a second in 5 hits ...I so hope they put focus in ><

    I feel more comfortable with silence still but I think I'll experiment more with superfade so I can actually stop splatting against walls every 5 seconds ^^;

    I was the one who made the "focus" ability suggestion in the BI forum, this is what i proposed it to do (you guys seem a little confused). Level 3 "focus" makes all attacks do double damage but also have double the cooldown. This means in the time it takes to get 4 regular bites off, you would only be able to get 2 focused bites off. The advantage focus gives you is that you have a very powerful 1st strike attack, capable of one-biting a level 0 marine.

    My idea of a fade is; in-slash-out with one dead marine.
