Upgrades are really up to you though tactics wise here's a few tips =D

    1) the donce
a Gorge in the open is a gorge in trouble; if you're under heavy fire don't be afraid to put down a building to hide behind XD
RTs are great for this if you're capping a res node; just stick it down and you've got a huge lump of flesh to dance around dodging the marines knives and bullets ^^

    2) Spider Gorge
If you've got 3 hives webs are lethal in combat; try and get them while you're fighting rather than using up your web limit on passages and watch as they struggle about helplessly. If you're on your own for some reason keep switching between spit and web to kill them without any chance of retaliation =3

    3) Safety in Numbers
try and stick with other players and heal them if they get hurt; they can help protect you while you help keep them from the grave. Teamwork pays and because heal is area effect you can simultaneously heal your allies and hurt your foes; the range on healspray is incredibly large

    4) Sapper
Aside from the Onos and possibly fade you're the team's building killer; always make the best use of this and take out any elec buildings for your teammates.

I'm sure there's a wealth of more info but I'll leave probably more experienced players to tell you all about those

upgrades - regeneration or redemption, depends on ur playing style. if you want to just build and stay out of combat, redemption will save you. i personally like regeneration, because you can run away to heal and then get back into the action - with a little more control, regeneration saves you the long walk across the map. combined with d chambers and/or another gorge, you're gonna be hard to kill
movment - definately adrenaline - gorge has some awesome abilities, you wanna be able to use them
sensory - cloak, definitely a life saver.

its my opinion, ask other ppl what they do, or even better, watch them in the act doing it.

A lone battle gorge is a dead gorge. A gorge gang is a dead marine base.

Gang up with other fatties ! Search for nearby green dots and convince them to not reskulk. A pair of gorge can take out several marines if they don't concentrate fire. Besides , 2 gorges heal OCs faster , so you can afford to place them deep in marine territory.

I'm a fairly solid permagorge, so here's my pearls of wisdom.

    Redemption-Celerity-Scent of Fear

    In detail-

Redemption is my personal choice, and generally saves your bacon. Regen is nice but with regen you NEED celerity so you can run. With redeem, you'll have little worries about outrunning the enemy, so you can go Adren and healspam everything, or take celer and become a suicide bomber. Attacking most bases means you'll redeem before you can dent your adrenalised energy - so celerity can make you move a little faster, and you'll usually redeem before running out of attack.

Regen is good if you've a nearby base, or cloaking, so that you can hide and recuperate - although being a gorge most hiding places will be accessible to marines, thus making this risky. Celerity is important because if you die, thats 10-16 res points wasted on evolving back up. You NEED to be able to run in order to live. If you have cloaking, you could try adren if you wish, since you can hide anywhere and thus don't need to run.

Carapace....... is nice but not significantly better than the other two. With cara you need to be near other gorges or DCs, otherwise you're dead. Both adren and celer are good but not as good as they'd be with the other DC upgrades.

SoF - handy for sighting out marines if you plan on healspam. I use it to make sure areas aren't too heavily infested by marines - also means I can pick a lone marine to healspam to death.

Cloaking is much better, because you can cloak walk up to a base, or cloakwalk away to regenerate damage. Nice all round, vital for the sapper.

    Pheromones - No point.

Celerity - great for the redeem gorge, handy for the regen gorge who wants to run off and hide. If you have cloaking you can try forsaking celer for something else, but generally rines WILL find you before the cloaking kicks in unless you can outrun them.

Adren - the sapper's choice. Bilebomb spam is terrifying on bases.

Silence - for the stealth builder. Cloaked silenced builders are very good for laming up areas near marine base - or SC crawling over the map.

A BATTLEGORGE will want redeem, celer, and SoF generally. This makes you very antipersonnel, as well as a hard moving target. You can backpedal while bhopping and hit rines with healspam or acid spit.

Battlegorges intending to kill bases would be better served with Adrenaline so they can bilespam. I'd keep redeem, because if you're permagorge then there's no point dying, and SoF is handy for spotting incoming rines. You could cloak if you wish though.

Personally I prefer the Redeeming ninja gorge... (Silence/Cloak).

You can take out a surprising amount of marines by following them and heal spraying... The usually don't notice until their health turns red, and by then even HA's are in deep trouble from a single sneaky gorge...

It also allows you to stealthily build chambers near marine outposts (without obs anyway), I find 1 of every chamber is handy, DCs give you a regen effect, MCs give you an adren effect, and SCs let you move while cloaked... You're basically getting 4 upgrades and 1 super-upgrade all at once....

I think I'll experiment with The Ninja. The technique interests me, its a bit more uncoventional than a stand up fighter.

It's definately a lot of fun though...

Just redemption alone makes the marines go "wthh4x?", because once I have that I just start charging chasing down wandering marines while waiting for enough res for a hive... They're like "oh a gorge, pffft...."

A couple of seconds later you have a dead marine and a redeemed gorge, healed up and ready for some more hunting

Spit is surprisingly powerful, the projectile is misleadingly small and so often it will look like you missed but infact you knocked em for some good damage, but be careful, because seeing how big the projectile is, you will sometimes shoot a marine up against a wall, have the projectile detect a hit on the wall to the left of the marine and do no damage, while the actual sprite itself flies past the marine's right ear... Always shoot to the side furthest away from anything that might block the onos sized spit...

*nod* absolutely. I think a lot of battlegorges fail because they spam acid spit all over the shop and don't take the time to aim.

If you manage to get the third hive, you are ready to truly battlegorge. It's all about web. You don't fill whole passages with it, EVER. This wastes your team's web limit. What you do is web a wall, or the floor, and wait for a marine to come. When he does, shoot web again, so that when it hits, the web would be passing through the marine. Instant-webbed-marine. They can't weld the web, since it is instantanious. You can also continue to repeat this, keeping the marine webbed as long as you want. I have literally killed a rambo HA with the repeated web and healspray all by my lonesome. It's the best feeling in the world.

Battlegorging with two hives focuses on building a small base of maybe two OC, two DC, and using that mini-hive as a push-off point towards a marine outpost such as the double res, or a hive location. Get celerity or adren and any of the defense upgrades (I'd suggest redemp, or if you can get back to your base of DCs fast enough, carapace), and just keep running from your base to the marines, bilebombing a few times, and running away. They will be forced to weld constantly, which keeps at least one marine busy. There will probably be two other marines posted to watch for you and shoot at you, so after a few runs, call in a high-evolution friend if you can.

Basic one-hive battlegorging is very simple. You just follow a bunch of other gorges and/or skulks, and leap along with them into large battles. Healspray like your life depended on it, since healspray will help your skulk and gorge buddies stay alive, as well as kill the marines. This is the way a gorge rush is done. You all get movement chambers at the start of the game for Adren3, and rush the marine base constantly healspraying. When you get to marine base, you build OCs on the IPs, and wait to get some skulks to kill the comchair.

Building on top of IPs and PGs will force anyone coming through them to type stuck. If you build an OC on either marine structure, this will damage them over and over, all while they are trying to type /stuck. This would be if you have been able to bilebomb a few turrets in a weakly defended outpost, and need to make sure that nobody takes the phasegate to wax your fat gorgey butt.

building on ip or pg is a banable offence on some servers (and a rather cheap thing to do IMHO), so at the very lest read the server rules.

personaly i like sc for cloaking. get in real close (off to one side) to the rambo and let em have it with the spit. you can get 2 or 3 hits in befor they shoot (assumeing they are not dead) swich to heal and jump around. works almost every time.

as for takeing out bases, it is suriseing how often its right under a vent (or rafter/leadge). skulk up there and gorge (get the upgrades befor hand) and it will be down in know time.

Don't rely too much on web either - it looks to be modified in the forthcoming patch, and CURRENTLY 90% of the time some inexperienced player has spammed the web quota all over the map. Focus more on acid spit and healspray for the win

Heh, true battlegorges have no need for such petty things as webs or OCs...

By the time webs are available the game is just about over anyway, and OCs do nothing but prove that the marines need to scan the area for sensory chambers....

Just plop down atleast one of each of the upgrade chambers in a corner that isn't likely to get accidentally shot and operate at a safe distance from it. Don't make it obvious that you can run while cloaked. The idea being that even if you die or redeem, your mini base wont get discovered. With OCs there the game is over the instant you die, and rebuilding there will be so much harder.

As for taking down HA, just last night it was 2vs1, and I was a gorge following 2 HA... Silenced healspray, plus cloaking everytime they stopped walking... I mean sure they should have kept a better eye on their health, and possibly welded each other... But they didn't notice anything till one of em dropped dead, and by then it was just a couple more sprays till the other one died too...

I usually go regen adren when going around the map (scent of fear if we have sens). When assaulting a final fortified position I go for celerity unless I have a big team with me. If you can afford to get movements nearby then always go celerity. Same with d's if you can afford an outpost go ahead and get cara and celerity and then run back n forth.

It's also fun to go battle gorge as early game so I can alternate between building and fighting. It's funny how marines try to shoot the skulks while you waddle over to them and start spraying. Then, you redempt. Or, when you gang up with outher dedicated gorges.
