I would recommend giving him some realistic facial features. Also, make it look like he has "real" fingers.

cal.. real fingers arent possible cuz the models dont have them <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Sorry, but if you want a realistic render, you have to edit it slightly yourself <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

I'd say 2, but give the shadow a slight bit of definition (so basically it's somewhere between 1 and 2). And the bullet could use some "speed" to it, like blur or such, cuz no camera can catch the image of a flying projectile that fast.

    Second one fabsolutely.

But you HAVE to change that bullet... it looks like that thing inside a Kinder chocolate egg..

When you have something you're happy with in your 3D world, render it. Then open the picture in Photoshop and seperate the fingers.

    patience and intelligence is the key <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

as you can see it is possible to make seperated fingers on a model in a render <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

I dunno if its just me, but the bullet looks outta place, either scrap it or re adjust it to make it so its in line with the gun.

If you keep it, re-adjust the gun to take in account for

    -the casing
-the action (upper part **** back to eject the casing)
-the gun angling up because of the bullet coming out

...you know, just make it more realistic

    but great work, though!

Ok thanks for the suggestions, i will make the bullet look better, its sorta a place holder.
And i just cannot be bothered learning how to make the fingers speerate, as its just the default mariene model postioned in milkshape then exported to POV-RAY (Persistance of Vision Raytracer) Not 3DsMAX.
Ill expirement with the shadow resoloution and fade distance.
The final render (When i get it looking a bit better) ill render it at 1600x1200 so all of you who want a wall paper dont worry!

if your interested in povray go to <a href='http://www.povray.org/' target='_blank'>http://www.povray.org/</a>
    Edit: Latest render
