Argh! My New Hdd!

<div class="IPBDescription">ARGHH!!!!!</div> The other day me and 2 other friends ordered a bunch of HDDs online.

I also have a IDE controller installed... but the IDE ribbons that came with it are.... less than sturdy.

So yeah I now have a 120Gb (ordered with friends) and an 80Gb (bought today) that needed to be added into my rig.

*wanders over to cabinet*

*picks up old IDE ribbon that came with IDE controller*

*inserts 120Gb into slave slot*

"Oh wait.. I wanted that in my master slot"

*tug*

...

*tug*

*end comes off IDE ribbon*

*IDE connector still in brand spanking new never used 120Gb HDD*

So now it is 5pm Sunday and all the stores will be closed.... I don't wanna dig it out myself, because if a PC store screws up removing the IDE connector from my HDD they will have to give me a new one =D
I'm crafty to be sure...

I never liked the bigarse ribbons. Then again I'm not about to hand over $10 for a round cable.

get rounded cables, less chance of your hdd melting, i think comusa sells rounded cables for 5 bucks

I still can't believe that people actually **PAY** for rounded cables now. I mean I remember one time we were LANning at my house when the "rounded cable" thing was the new rage, so we spent like an hour stripping our IDE and FDD cables... heh.

It really does improve airflow too, lowers temp by a noticible amount.

Only reason I can see for paying for one though is if you have a case window and you want something that looks pretty...

You were lucky! Our computer was in a rolled-up newspaper inside a septic tank! And we didn't have IDE cables! We had to carry the bits uphill both ways between the hard drive and the motherboard!
