Gazaar's book corner

Part ii
THis is, the second installment of the book corner. Today I will be reccomending a book called "The Talisman". It is by Stephen King, and Peter Straub, so all of you people out there that don't like Stephen King, it's not fully his so it's still worth looking into. In fact, this is nothing like King's work, sure it's creepy but they don't try to force it on you like he normally would. It's about a 12 year old boy named Jack Sawyer who's mother who was the queen of the B movies (there are classes of movies kinda, the movies that get into theatres are class a, just think class b as the kind that some may get into theatre, but go straight for video). She is getting sick and has driven them from Hollywood to the shores of New Hampshire, to the beach resort where their family had once had the best summer of their lives. Jack befriends an old blues guitarist who now works as the attendant of an amusement park that's only open a few times a year. Jack finds out that in order to save his mother's life from disease he must travel west, alone, back to California to find a Talisman that will save her life. It gets alot deeper than this...y'know, simple things like alternate earths..*cough* but anyways this book is very good, and I give it 5 friggin starts, cause almost all of the books I'll be doing get 5 stars, simply because I won't be reviewing the stupid books I've read.

correct me if I'm wrong, but When King writes, he just writes and doesn't plan for the rest of the book, right(s)?

Silent But Violent, you may need to consider reading more, it helps you out in a number of ways. Gwahir, I've never heard that about him, but it would make sense, since I've read a few of his books, it kinda feels like he made it up as he went along. However with other books they feel fully planned out and all, so, I don't know.

I don't know about Stephen King, but when I write I usually just have a general idea of the story in my head, I hate writing to a plan

It's R.A. Salvatore for me. His books are like candy. Fortunately, I just bought his latest tonight (I always wait for the soft cover).

I stumbled across his Dark Elf Trilogy after finishing all the Dragonlance books (that were out at the time) and I've eagerly awaited every book since. The Cleric Quintet was also excellent.

I have a couple of King's Dark Tower books that I got for a birthday one year but I never really got into them. The Dark Half was good. I think there was another of his that I read but I can't remember now.
