The year you won the World Series with an expansion team roster of superstars, you still only managed to barely fill half your seats on average. And this year, where you are going to the WS again, it's an even more pathetic 25%. Woohoo, you go on with your bad selves, you diehard fish fans! Both of you!

MonsE, I salute you again. By all means, you're right about "fairweather fans". The only reason why half my grade is happy and interested in the Marlins games is because two of our Calculus and English teachers agreed to either postpone tests or give us A's on essays if the Marlins made it to the world series.
Just keep showing your bitterness. It's just amusing. It's not about the fans it's about the team.
I'm just glad the Marlins won and they'll sure as hell be back next year.
No point in arguing since this is your forum and I'm the new guy and people will back you anyway. Nice comment by Teflon. :/ If that's what you got to say to make you feel justified in the loss so be it.

A team exists for the fans - that's the only purpose they serve. You make no sense at all and have no knowledge of what baseball really means, just go away kid. Your lack of empathy for millions of people that have loved their baseball team since 1876 just goes to show that you're another tiresome teen and fairweather fisher. I guarantee that if the Marlins had not been in the playoffs, you would not have seen 10 games all year. When the Marlins aren't winning, no one is watching - and barely watching when they are. Cubs fans love their team rain or shine; besides Boston fans, there are none more loyal. Without the fans, the team means nothing, and they become a joke, like the Expos or Devil Rays (another florida abomination). That's why the Marlins mean nothing. In a few years you will be gone along with the other expansion trash, and baseball can return to its true form.
Boston up by 4 in the 4th... could this be it, Beantown?
J/K. I'll root for any team that plays the trouts or sea basses or whatever they have in florida this week (just change your name to the the Starkist Tunas so you can reach a new low in commercialism). The fact that I root even for the evil empire over another team shows just how far I have fallen...
But it would be sweet vengeance to the see Boston (the AL version of the Cubs) play and whomp those arrogant punks on the marlins.

I think that's putting way too much stock in the fans. These guys can play for the love of the game, or lesser yet, the money. The game has changed so that fans get more say in the way things are done, but I wouldn't rank them as high as you do. Despite not being watched, the Marlins continued to play the game and make it to the World Series. I didn't see any sad faces in the team when they won the last game, even though they don't have as many fans as the Cubs. To cheapen their win, and the time and struggle it took to get there, is wrong. They tried just as hard as the Cubs, and came out strong. What does it matter if they're not watched? Does that make any difference in how they play? Absolutely not. So to sneer at their win because nobody likes them? Incredible.
Before you begin with the "fairweather fan" line, please understand that I don't care two hoots about baseball. I liked the logo for the Marlins better than the Cubs, so I chose them as my favorite. If the Cubs won, I wouldn't lose any sleep. I don't care about sports, but I can appreciate the time and strength it takes to play the game. I also understand that there will always be one winner and one loser - just because my 'favorite' team loses, does not make the winner's accomplishment any less valid or praiseworthy.
You done being condescending now? The lack of empathy you display to a lifelong cubs fan, especially after admitting you like a team due to their logo, is astonishing; you really ought to stay out of it. Everyone keeps saying that I think the Marlins did not deserve to win - I have said no such thing. I am saying their limited fairweather fans do not deserve to have a winning team. Is this so hard for brains to understand tonight, or do I have to draw little cartoons in mspaint?
If you don't care two hoots, SUYF and stay out of my topic. Really medhead.
Chicago Cubs has one of the most fanatical and loyal playerbases in all of sports. As a Cub fan in Chicago I can attest to this fact: Angering a Cubs fan will only result in you getting hurt.
After reading this thread, I think I know how English cricket fans feel
monse, next season me and you is goin goat huntin. we're gonna drag him to yankee stadium and hand the curse off to them. meanwhile, flayra will be reincarnating babe ruth and we'll let the yankees have him under promise of a trade to the sox.

Yeah, if Braves fans were a bit more attentive to their team I'd actually feel worse for them than BoSox fans - 12 post season appearances and 11 chokes. Unreal! And now most of their top players' contracts are up this year, and we may not see Atlanta in the postseason again for a decade.
I'd rather let the Babe rest in peace, and instead have Cubs and Boston owners pay to get more than 2 decent starters and some some awesome defensive outfielders. Montreal, how about a straight one for one trade - you get Sosa, we get Guerrero?
