Custom Maps Server?

<div class="IPBDescription">Where can I find one.</div> I am searching for a good server that regulary plays on custom map. Now that I know all the official ones by heart, I'm anxious to try new ones. Any of you would know the I.P. of a good server ?

well, my favorite custom map server is:

ns 2.1 texas custom maps


don't know the ip, but just organize the servers alphabetically and look for it. only problem is that they don't allow 56kers, so if you got 56k, youre out of luck. my strategy to find servers like that is to organize the servers by map, and then play at the ones running a custom map. after playing there for a few games, you'll know what kind of map rotation they have.

Do they have a website where you can download their custom maps instead of sapping their bandwith. I just figure it would be best to announce it before people join then leave to download map. Or worse, get lazy and try to d/l it off the server, which steals bandwidth.

All I need is a good custom map server. I will probably try the one mentioned by Null.

For those looking for custom maps, I know that <a href='http://www.thehivemind.org' target='_blank'>the hivemind</a> has almost all the maps.

Its about the only custom map server out there.

We have been trying to develop a robust community of players who like custom maps for NS (in fact, we've been working on it since our time as Mayberrygames.com). The difficulty *seems* to be that few players are looking for those custom maps which preserve the traditional style of NS gameplay (we don't run so-called "fun maps"). In addition, many people are not willing to take the time to download maps.

Still, there are custom map servers out there, and they don't always require you to download the map from the game server. You can download the maps we run from our server at <a href='http://www.kustomkettles.com' target='_blank'>www.kustomkettles.com</a>; it won't interfere with the game server at all. We currently have three custom maps in rotation: Napo, Rampage, and Delta. We are, however, always open to suggestions about which maps should be in rotation. As interest grows, we will be expanding out offerings of custom maps.
