<div class="IPBDescription">getting double ups or shotguns</div> it's my simple question what's more important getting double ups with two arms labs....or should u get 1 arms lab with one ups at a time and pass out shotties witht he extra cash...thx for replies

    I dont think I've ever seriously gotten 2 arms labs so I guess my advice would be get single upgrades and pass out the shotties

    The only time I have double arms labs is when I have so much res that dishing out a bunch of shotguns is no problem anyway.

    I always build 1, only in 1 game I built 2, when I had about 300 after my comm being afk for about 3 minutes while we had many RT's.

    Depending on your strategy, team's skill level, and your own comming skills, you should choose between advanced armory and shotgun rushing. Arms lab is a priority, but not nearly as important as the above two. I rarely get more then one armor upgrade, and occassionally get +1 wp to shut my soldiers up (omg comm get us upgrades so we can killstuff!!!eoeneoen!).

    thx. for response only way i do double ups is when i think my team can do a surprise massive lmg marine rush on the hive and jsut spam witht hey have early 3/3's

    I think you should save that 25 res for arms lab and use it for the upgrade you didn't get. Shotguns are nice yes, but the problem is that when the rambo sees you drop it, they seem to run at it faster than the person that you were intending to get it. Then said rambo rushes out of base, gets 0-2 kills and dies in some obscure place no one can seem to get to and retrieve said shotty. Bam, waste of res that you could have used to save for lvl 2 weapons. I'd say don't waste the 25 res for another arms lab or n res for shotties and save it for more important things, like upgrades or rts.

    nah,,,research arnt slow, and shotguns are needed to counter the fades..

    It depends on the server.

    If people know what they are doing and work as a team, then it's shotguns and a rush to the enemy hive. If everyone rambos and has no aim, then any shotguns you give will be wasted. But if you are on a team that rambos and can't aim, then you will lost 90% of the time, so just drop shotguns anyway.

    to be frank, if I dont really need the double ups or the ups and shotties, id rather have ups and adv armoury.

    Double arms is great I'd say 4 or more res nodes that are secure should be fine. Dropping shotguns should be inresponse to something the aliens are doing, such as couple of fades or lots of res. Upgrades should always come first though in big games, shotties probably in smaller games. If you have 4 nodes and dont seem to have enough res you are either spamming meds/ammo too much, dropping too many shotties, or building too many turrets.

    Single arms lab, get ups over shotties. Esp. armor lv. 1. Then keep getting weapons. Then finish off the armor.

    my strat is almost always tech rush... Get out lvl 2-3 hmg's by the time the onos is there, with level 2 armor

    If i have 2-4 rt's i ALWAYS have 2 arms labs. Laugh if you want, but 10 min into the game the marines WILL have level 3 weap/armor or close to it. As long as you go sparingly on medpacks, and defend what you have.

    It helps ot have a hive, and tell your marines to defend your 2-4 res towers and dont go anywhere else...

    WHY you say? because then the aliens dont get onos till 15-17 minutes, ample time for you to get defenses up.... <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Try it sometime, ull be surprised what a tech rush will do

    That means you spend all you money on tech, and nothing on tfs, rts, phases, uppgraded armouries, protlab etc..

    NOTHING

    Why?
    Cause you cant possibly afford it if the marines dont constantly own aliens all over the map..

    In large games its upgrades.
    But with teamplay and a good marine ONE shotgun helps even at the start very much.
    But if u hear FADES dish out shotis,at least 2 per team.
    And i prefer the other techs over upgrades,like motion tracking and *PHASE TECH*.

    But it depends on the situation and ur plan.

    Rtkilling:
    one armor up 2 shotis 1 welder.

    Digging in:
    Phase tech,armory upgrade( for hmgs),motion tracking,and maybe slow upgrades.

    Hive rush:
    one armor up,1 shoti,1hmg (if possible),phase tech,maybe another ip.

    Most important techs allaround:
    1 armor up,upgraded armory,phase tech,a tf for eRT,with clever/evil marines : motion tracking.

    btw. u always must counter the alien upgrades....mt/multiple obs and shotis for sens (no sneakin siege tactics and large groups of marines so u must scan less locations)
    upgrades for def
    mt and armor up/shotguns for movement chambers. (with mov motion tracking is a MUST)

    I would go with the shottys.
