Google Problem
<div class="IPBDescription">not the redirection problem tho...</div> hey,
lately my google hasnt been working at all. i know about the whole problem that people are getting about getting redirected or losing results, but my problem is different.
whenever i try to go to google, it just says page not found. i have the google toolbar, and even when i use that, it just says page not found. i thought it might be the browser, but like opera has the same problem, no google.
oh yea, its the same with other search engines!! like yahoo, msn, all of those dont work either. ARGH! now i cant search anything!
actually, i found ONE place where google does work, and thats if theres a google search in another site. for example, on imdb.com, they have a google bar that actually works. but that one isnt as good, it cant find images, etc.
is there ANY way to fix this so i have google back!?
heres what i tried already:
spybot programs, no help
looked up that notepad file that has the sites in a list, no help there
new browser as stated, no help.
please help!! <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Edit: Furthermore, the file you opened up in notepad was the original hosts file, the trojan puts a registry entry that makes windows look for the hosts file in C:\Windows\help\
Edit Edit: It appears Microsoft has put out an update to fix this vulnerability, so run Windows Update tool.
Hope this helps.

now, when i go to google, it goes to one of those domain sites, and says "There is no site at this address" or something, which is an improvement over the page simply not being found.
now i know that it is infact a redirection problem. i looked everywhere for where the hosts are listed, but no luck.
are there any more programs i could use to find where the hosts are listed?
thanks,
