released
this looks to be the most proffesional looking UT2003 mod so far, judging by screenshots it looks amazing, teams are balancedd while still being fun, and frghtrningly realistic weaponry. My hand is broke so I cant play it so I was wondering what other NS regulors thought about it.

you're not missing much =/ I mean, the game's pretty good, but, like, unnecessary... not innovative at all, the community is really small, there are no real stand-out mods... just shinier graphics than HL :>

As far as non-HL FPS games go, Battlefield is where it's at... but why am I ranting my opinion when it's not even the topic of this thread =P that mod does look pretty shiny. I wish I could try it too

    nonsense!

it's FAR more realistic, no stinky crosshairs, slower pace, and more team orientated..did i mention it's eastern front so no stinkin' americans

btw. i already made a topic on this :\

w00t, another WW2 game, I wonder who came up with such an ORIGINAL idea... *sigh*
I dont really care how great it is, its games like NS that keep the game community moving forward, not another WW2 style waste of time effort

Well, the pictures don't look promising. Considering even the pics page in their forum has no action fights.

On the plus side, I have like a 700 join date number, and I've got two men on the inside ( kev, semper)

Well now maybe the Russians can get some of their deserved attention for what they did in WW2...

I hope there is a sniper class so I can re-live Enemy at the Gates!!!

I tried this out at a lan party last night. The terrain and models look pretty good, but the animation and sound was extremely lacking, imo.

If you want a WWII game with Russians, just wait for Call of Duty. Single player is where WWII games should stay; great as DoD is, the gameplay makes no logical strategic sense (send endless waves of flesh until you capture all the flags - wee), and I think that really detracts from the "realistic" WWII setting. Until someone can make a decent multiplayer WWII game that actually simulates the way that war flows and occurs realistically (which is almost impossible), I'll just keep killing nazis by myself.

Dude, if you haven't played DOD in the custom map servers, you haven't played DOD at all. I've been a huge fan of DOD since 2.0, but it's very sad to see so many people get turned off by the VERY poorly designed stock maps. The stock maps have very little tactical choice, since combat is so straightforward. But custom maps are usually a different ball game, with flanking routes available everywhere. Plus you need to play on the Battleforeurope.com tournaments for a great experience. I could go on, but suffice it to say, I totally disagree with people who think the game is just a meat grinder game.

Anyway, back to Red Orchestra. I was looking forward to this, and thought i'd get Unreal 2003 for it once it released, but from what i can tell, it's ultra-realism translates into eventual ultra-boredom. Let's not mince words: Red Orchestra will never leave it's cult following. Sorry. :-P

That makes it fun... waiting's pretty boring.

1.3 here. ~_^ But most of the Custom DoD maps are good, most just are a pain on the eyes.

Had to come back and revive this thread, because instead of doing what the majority of the people did here, I actually tried the game.

And I gotta tell you, I love it. I'm having a complete blast with this thing. I'm a huge fan of the iron sight system, have been since Infiltration for UT - but the slowed down pace is something I've always longed for in Infiltrations CS style game play. I love it. Its fun. Some parts need to be fleshed out, fixed and what not, but I'm really enjoying it as it is.

Speaking of Infiltration ... any news on a UT2k3 port ...? lol .. Anyone ..? lol
