After 2 and a half weeks of mapping, and putting my NS map on hold I present Co_Shatter. I'll be sending the BSP links and other stuff to Flayra on tomorrow (Saturday) as I still have a few things to do tech wise.

Without further ado some sneak peaks.

in the 6th pic once of the light or whatever it is is..aligned wrong..
• NetBentNetBent Join Date: 2003-05-16 Member: 16386Members
Yeah a little 2 unit alignment that is purely visual isn't something that I was too worried about in production. I was mostly mapping like lightning in hopes that it would get into playtesting in time.

Looks nice. Much better than my 2-weeks in the making crap hole co_map.

Pic 5, the marine spawn doesnt seem to be up to the standard of the other shots. It could use a little more work.

nice work netbent.

Nice, dark & metallic. I also like the understated infestation in the hive room. Much better than the incredible amount of infestation in some maps in my view.

If I had shown all the pics of the marine start that i had wanted you would think a little higher of it I'm sure As for overinfestation. Yeah Sometimes it's overdone, and all you need to accomplish is what is provided in your wad.

Another great map! Just this marine spawn... it looks so copy&pasted from this older custom ns map... what's the name again?

the alien hive could've done with a more infested look, but i suppose with this being a combat map, which is based on speed, the small amount of bacteria makes it look like the aliens've only just got here.

so yeah
very nice job though, just sort out a few texture alignment issues and you're away

Excellent texturing and great overall atmosphere. Just a few nitpicky notes:
3rd pic, railing at ramp left of lights: texture under railing misaligned. The texture you put under the railing in the 2nd pic would probably look better too btw.
5th pic, "bulges" under "battlements": texture misalignement. A QuArK user would use the "project texture" command, for WC I believe it's called "align texture to world".
Overall: there seem to be rather few obstacles in the level itself. Although this of course is hard to judge from a few screenshots, a needn't be a problem in the first place, more crates/machines/etc. for the rines and skulks to run around might be nice.

hmm i do not think "submission deadline" was reached, since we've been getting new maps to test with every new build of 2.1. Dont let something like that detour you from sending a great looking map. We love testing new maps.

dunno what everyone's talking about, I think it looks great all around. Maybe they're referring to the use of the lab textures? I think it looks great though.
