Can't see why anyone would think that
Not sad as in "My kitten got eaten", sad as in "I like the spice girls" (i don't though). However, i DO like Don Estelle. His voice > anyone.
I'm 15. My mom thinks i'm sad, my mates think i'm sad, hell, even i do. But i still like him, and other types of music that i'm not "supposed" to for my age. Apparantly, i'm only supposed to like R&B. You know, that type of music where an album of 20 songs sounds like one continuous drone? Yeah, thought you did.
In my collection of CDs, i have things ranging from Linkin park to Stereophonics. System Of A Down to Charlotte Church. Don Estelle to Daft Punk, and Jamiroquai to Electric 6. I also have some classical music, like "Night On Bald Mountain" (good track).
Anyway, does anyone else have a taste in music that others find.... sad?

I didn't know there was an authority on what's sad, it's all subjective. That's simply their opinion, the only sad thing is their perspective of what they think, it obviously doesn't carry power over someone elses tastes.
I listen to practically everything I've been exposed but country and most rap (I'm not a fan of all the unoriginal lyrics, although I can appreciate some original artistic ones). I listen to ethnic music from the Middle East, including the sitar and such. (I'm looking for some good Middle-Eastern music, preferably really talented artists, and a colloboration of old and new, or even some Middle Eastern contemporary, or modern / R&B / Rap Middle Eastern)
I also listen to all the Trance, Techno, Acid Trance et cetera. I like contemporary artists, Sting, and even some of the "pop-like" ones, like Michelle Branch.
I also like rock bands / alternative, from Taproot, Linkin Park, and Mad at Gravity. Also Punk/Ska, Opera, Classical, Orchestra and Jazz.
But honestly, who cares =/
"I listen to music so obscure even i haven't heard of it."
And that's relatively true, most of the time people don't have a clue who or what i'm talking about when it comes to music.
Congrats stick, you listen to music
Ahh! I remember Jamiroquai! He was awesome. Who cares if you have a giant taste of music, that's a good feature. I LOVE electronica, it's great, I can't get enough, but I just listened to Billy Jean because it's a good song.

if you ever get into making music, the more influences you have, the move varied/interesting your own sound will be.
keep up the good work, dont listen to what others say, fight the power!

Seriously though, music is the last thing a person should judge you on.
I think Phil Collins has an indredible voice, but Im pretty much a metal head, that listenes to DMB and Pink Floyd and Tupac and so on...
I fancy myself a musician though, so I find it respectfull to apreciate all music and all tastes. All art and expression for that matter.
I've bought hardly any CD's in my life, and only two in the last three or so years, they were Orff's Carmina Burana and Grieg's Peer Gynt. Best two cd's I've ever had You're not alone in liking strange music, or 'sad' music ;p

Just a little bit of info on that video:
It's the walls that move, not the floor. I thought it was the floor too when i saw it, but i did a little investigating (i.e, typed "How did they make the video for virtual insanity" on Yahoo), and found it out.

The dots are just for spacing, so ignore them. Basically, the walls on on wheels, and the camera is in a fixed spot attatched to the walls. Jay K dances around (all his moves were his own, made up on the spot. He only knew where he had to be at a certain point). Sometimes, the chairs were attatched to the wall etc.
Anyway, back on topic...
I don't actively persue genres. I like what i see (on music channels) or hear (on the radio). I think the weirdest song i like is "Frontier Pyschiatrist" by The Avalanches. That is a weird song. There's only 2-3 types of music which i will activly stay clear from (change channel, station etc):
I don't know what it's called, but the whole Slipknot crowd (apart form some Marilyn Manson songs, and ONE murderdolls song)
50-Cent and all copy cats of him, and most of the people in his genre. God, i really can't stand 50-Cent. Before i get flamed, i KNOW he's not crap. His popularity shows that, but i hate him.
My mom puts my final hatred best: "Plinky Plonky Pop". Things like "S-Club-Juniors: Puppy Love". All that stuff.

Cmon guys, you are making it sound like it was ages ago . I remember that video as if it came out yesterday, even though I don't dig his music.
My friends say I'm stuck in the 80's because I like Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd and that kinda stuff... But I'm also very keen on newer metal and harder rock, (not nu-metal...hate it) like Finntroll, Hammerfall, In Flames, Children Of Bodom, Dream Theatre, Kingston Wall, Ensiferum and pretty much everything that has balls and guitar! Except nu-metal.
