I like playing with the bots via the "INSTANT ACTION" option. To be honest, i've NEVER played it online but done a fair bit of the single player "Tournament". Looking for some decent mods (i.e Monkey Matrix is pretty fun) and waiting on that Russia World War 2 mod thingy.... Red Something(?). (Mentioned on these forums a few weeks ago)
I played it for quite a while. I took it out my disk drive and it's kinda disappeared into thin air. I liked Invasion mode in particular. Never tried mods though.

I played UT2k3 a little bit, but I'm an original UT player at heart (simply because it was hardcore and I was good at it, good like I could kick your **** convincingly and not die often doing it good)
UT2k3 just doesn't cut it compared to the hardcore standard set by it's predecessor. Plus I spent far more time admiring the eyecandy than actually playing. The weapons feel less powerful than the originals (flak cannon, minigun, rocket launcher etc) so DM isn't as fun, but teamplay is a lot better since it's harder for one player to carry the team (except against bots, cause they suck)
Bombing run owns, only thing I played in 2k3. The new Invasion mode is what I believe killed off the Defence Alliance mod, since their mod was basically the same gameplay that Invasion mode had (hence, developing the mod on UT2k3/4 was pointless)
*pause to catch breath*
I stopped gaming althogether sometime in 2001 (until later that year) and lost most of my skills, but I can still hold my own against anyone (except in 1-on-1, but that's boring compared to the 16-way all-out ownage that is my heritage)
I think the UT series would do a lot better if it didn't have that silly scripot system and had a C++ SDK like HL did (sooo much easier to code for - UT is just plain scary)
Isnt that just UT? and UT 2k4 yes 4.

The company (can't remember the name) released a pretty massive "bonus pack" for the game that you can download for free. Invasion mode is one of the options.
Basically, you are all on the same team. Aliens randomly pop-up and you need to kill them all to move on to the next round. It's insultingly easy at first but it gets very hard. On Gael with InstaGib it's insane!

I've been looking for some mods for UT2k3, but no luck so far. Anyone know a mod directory for UT2k3 of some sort?

Oh man, I know what you mean. still, Instagib Invasion is very fun. On Tolara forest the game is freakishly easy if you play with instagib. I could never die, even if i play half-heartedly. I just run around on the forest floor blasting everything i see.

i uninstalled it after my brother lent MY game out
I do play it, it makes a nice change to go from NS to an all-out deathmatch.

I have it, but I can't play online, because it MYSTERIOUSLY fails to authenticate ...
I pre-ordered UT2k3 for the xbox.....that was the biggest waste of 50 dollars I've ever spent. I beat the game in about an hour and never played it again.
Even when I played (i think it's 16 players) on LAN with it, it was just as boring.
lol does anyone remember the 9/11 mod some guy made for 2k3? It was kind of cruel, yet, fun.
they labelled it wrong; it's actually Quake 2003. Somewhere along the lines the the names got mixed up and it's been called Unreal Tournament 2003 ever since. Or at least that's the only way you could explain that it's nothing like UT and a heck of a lot like Quake 3's little sister ><
I bought it to do cool moddy stuff but after my harddrive got hit by a virus I haven't touched it since

Dispite being a very similar type of game (That being multiplayer-based deathmatch), UT2K3 does have more with it straight out of the box, the ai is far superior and i'm not even going to dignify the Quake 3 engine with a comparison to UT2K3's engine.
As opposed to thinking of UT2K3 as Quake 3 repackaged, try to think of it as what Quake 3 would have been like if it was developed for longer. UT2K3 is clearly superior in many ways, but that may just be the fact that it's newer than Quake 3.
I must admit though that Quake 3 is a sore point for me, i worshipped the first two games and Quake 3 was just a huge disappointment. Hence why i abandoned the Quake modding scene.
okies I agree that UT2k3 is better than quake 3 but I wanted an Unreal Tournament game, not epic's take on Quake developed better >< UT was always slower, more tactical and generally more fun; UT2k3 screams along at a blistering pace without about as much tactics as pointing your gun. Even though they nerfed the Flak Cannon (~huggles 'frag' cannon~) it still rocks but despite the names and stuff it's really just not UT anymore =/
I used to play it a lot for like 5 months (maybe less), but then I stopped. Then I decided to try again awhile later and found a small mod where theres a sniper rifle (looks like an AK though) that has like 3 hit kills. That was fun, but then again, I got bored of it. I might get UT2004 if it really goes back to the series roots and if you get a discount for buying 2003 (or it's pretty cheap).
I bought it thinking "I'll play single player for awhile, then when I get bored with that I'll have dozens of cool mods to play with". I got bored with the single player, and then no mods came out...
