How In The--?

<div class="IPBDescription">Why in the--?</div> Hey, I'm new to the NS forums, and new to NS in general. I just got NS 2.0 installed, and it doesn't work. Not a suprise to me, Sierra programs have a habit of never working on this computer. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo--> But, I would be real happy if one of you people could help me out with this specific problem:
The game crashes alot. And by alot, I mean, ALOT. ALOT as in, everytime I play, it crashes. I'll get in a NS game and it will just stop and return me to the main menu screen, and sometimes it just crashes the whole program. And don't worry about my comp, it's definately ahead of the minimum specs.

P.S. I also noted that the gamma goes off the charts but the game includes a gamma restart so I'm not that unhappy with it.

When searching for help, use the search option at the BOTTOM of the screen. IT's the only one that works. Why, I don't know.
If this post hasn't been moved to the tech help forums within say, 48 hours, make another post there asking for help.

Note to anyone else: DO NOT FLAME OBLIVION 2.0! YOU ALL HAVE MOST LIKELY DONE OR SAID SOMETHING YOU REGRETTED ON THE FORUMS IN THE PAST! GIVE OTHERS THE CHANCE TO LEARN FROM THE MISTAKES THEY MAKE! I WILL REPORT ANY POST FLAMING OBLIVION!

Are you using direct 3d or openGL? Software will absolutely not work and the direct3d implementation is kinda buggy for many people(and slower and uglier than the openGL). If you haven't, try it in openGL and it will likely solve your problems. If you are running with the openGL renderer, what half-life installation are you using DOD retail, CS retail, regular half-life?
DOD and CS retail are known to have some problems, I haven't had any reason to look closer at them but there should be info in the tech support forum if you need to know.
Look at the stickies in the tech support for solutions to common problems and see if one of them matches your problem.
