Updating Hl?

<div class="IPBDescription">...?</div> Well, uh, I downloaded NS earlier today. It said I needed version 1.1.1.0, and I currently have 1.1.0.8. hlds.exe told me my version was out of date (no way?!), so I started upd.exe. This tells me I'm not connected to the internet, even though I am. Well, what about hlupdate.exe or SierraUp.exe? Yes... hlupdate doesn't start, and SierraUp tells me my version (1.1.0.8) is the updated version. Naturally, I'm quite annoyed now, so I head on over to www.sierra.com to download an update from there. This, of course, doesn't work as it still tells me version 1.1.0.8 is the updated one. I've re-installed Half-Life quite a few times now but it doesn't seem to fix anything.

I have Half-Life: Generation, GOTY edition if that'd help. This problem also prevents me from playing mods such as TFC, DOD and OpFor CTF, but CS and HLDM work fine. Uh... any help? :/

I don't think I know that edition of half-life, but I have a friend who got a pack with opposing force and I think blue shift only -- no regular HL -- and she couldn't NS to even come close to working... hopefully you don't need a different edition of HL, but until someone else answers your post, that's the only thing I have to say... heh
