Serious func_weldable questions

<div class="IPBDescription">I searched but i didn't find my answers</div>ok, im trying to get some func_weldables in my level and i have some questions (yes, i seached, but none of them answered my questions here.)

1- How many times can you weld a func_weldable? once? twice? how many times?

2- How do i get it so that when i weld the door shut, the door stays shut? i weld the thing in the game and it doesn't work. (as in the door continues to open even though i welded it)

3- not a func_weldable question, but does the welding gun do any damage? if it doesn't, how does the mapper know that they set the strength high enough so it wouldn't get destroyed easy?

    1.  once
    2.  Only func_weldables can be welded, and func_weldables can't be used as doors or vice versa (last I checked)
    3.  damage is broken in the NSTR2, but the welder does do damage in NS.  (NS will probably be out before you finish your map, so you shouldn't worry about this)

    Well, with some trickery, you can put an invisible unc_weldable where your door is, and when it completes, make it trigger some master to kill the door so it doesn't work.

    I take it a weldable can't be destroyed again by aliens, correct?

    I always wondered what the actual weld animation looks like.

    Is it just like planting a bomb in CS where you get a timer and you just get sparks at the end of the welder.

    Or does it actually look like it's welding the door shut.


    Release a movie of the animation in action ;p

    In the NSTR2 welds just fade in as the welding process proceeds. I believe you can set a "strength" of the weld. In order for an alien to break the weld it must cause this much damage to it.

    Last time I checked welds <i>could</i> be broken once they had been welded closed.
