with Maya...
hey, some of you may remember me from such forums as "the art work forum" and "the offtopic forum" so you may also know that i'm fairly new to modelling, and now for my question

Does any of you know a way to get models exported as .obj/.mtl or just some other file-format so i can get my model to milkshape ?

thx for reading.

I'm not at all familiar with Maya, but surely with the selection of formats Milky3D will import, Maya can export something compatible?

Wait, are you talking about the PLE of Maya? Because I think that's pretty restrictive as far as file formats go..

It's maya unlimited 4.5 and it will only export to .ma .mb and .mov, and it hurts my feelings

Skinny, never heard of the first two, but .mov is a movie format like .mpg or .wmv aint it? I'd have thought you're looking to export a mesh or object rather than a film?

Sure you aint in the wrong menu or something?

( I don't know the first thing about Maya, but it really sounds like you should have more options than that in a *cough* full version of Maya, .obj at least, surely? )

Edit: I see Sheena is on, maybe she can help you out?. I seem to remember her posting Maya work ages ago?

Er, when you go File > Save As... you should get lots of options. In either case, I think MS3d might have a Maya import plugin.
