Icon Issue...

<div class="IPBDescription">Having problems with icons not showing</div> Hiya everyone...

Well I just got my server up and purring when I noticed that after the first changelevel my admin icon disappeared along with some of the icons a couple of the PTs had. The icons worked on the first map the server started on, however after the first changelevel they quit working for some strange reason. The server logs dont show any "Contacting www.natural-selection.org" either, yet I have mp_uplink set to 1.

Anyone have an idea what might be going on?

I dont have IPTables/Chains running and im not behind a firewall either.

As per the posting rules here are the server specs...

CPU: Dual Pentium 4 XEON 2.4Ghz Processors with HT
RAM: 1GB DDR Ram
OS: RedHat Linux 9.0 (Don't shoot me, wish I had Slack instead <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->)
Kernel: 2.4.20-20.9smp

    You won't see that message unless you have "log on" in your autoexec.cfg.

    Can you test the web-connectivity on that box? lynx, w3m, or even telnet to port 80 of www.natural-selection.org ?

    I do have log on, as I said... I see the contacting message the first map it loads, however after the first mapchange it does not work at all.

    I tried contacting the site in lynx and I think the posible problem is a timeout issue, lynx took a good 20-30 seconds to pull up the website after looking it up. I am not sure if this is due to slow DNS servers or improper lookup, could be the latter I think.

    icons are weird with NS :s

    on several of my servers ive had they can be buggy...

    I am a constellation member, and also on these servers i have my wonid as a serverop... But - sometimes they show the admin icon, and sometimes it shows the constellation icon.... No idea what is happening...

    If you can't use a reliable DNS server just add this to /etc/hosts

    66.98.148.49 natural-selection.org

    is this server running HLA? if so prodigy may have disabled contact to the masterserver, as i know that our guys get admin icons automaticaly and pt icons for members...

    After the first contact with N-S.org, it doesn't contact the server again for another two hours.

    Icons in general are buggy, I usually get one of 4 icons everytime I play NS, in order of occurance: Constelation, PT, ServerOp, and even BetaServerop every once in a while <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    None of my admins however ever get icons on LM, and they are in mp_serverops.
