Been there, done that with Norton. Any particular virus scanner? Oh and sometimes, CS freezes

Do other programs close after a while?
It might be a 3d issue, try getting the latest drivers.
1.)Backup data
2.)Defragment
3.)Scandisk
4.)Virusscan
5.)Spyware check
6.)Re-install all faulty programs cleanly
7.)Update any drivers
8.)Re-install current drivers if "7" dosen't apply
9.)Generally this solves any problem. If it still dosen't work, post here.
Turning a desktop fan so it faces my tower helped a bit. heh
i thought for a second that nat-sel.org forums were closing down...

Hmm.... True, sometimes it won't freeze, it's very unpredictable. And I juz realised, Warcraft III :ROC and TFT do the same. There are no warning dialoges except for Wacraft III that says: "Fatal Error, memory ref. at 00000x05 colud not be "read" (I think thats how it looked.)
Pulled the two apart and problem was fixed.
His sound card is built-in. Well, i've went over to his house... and well, i think he BADLY needs to update his video card. Cause Savage went out of buisness so they are not holding up any patches or anything. oh yeah, Freaq, you could try screenshooting your resluts from your DirectX test and let us see what kind of video card you have. Then, maybe, someone would be kind enought to direct him to a site which contains patches.

lol @ Zig
anyway....that error can very possibly be because of a bad stick of RAM,like I told you before
Too bad MonsE is real busy with his life atm,so we need a replacement....hmmm....really,you should try tech-support...so I think this should be phased there
On a side note....any blue-screens involved??Could be a BSOD you know
Another suggestion is actually getting you're videocard replaced..
Never buy a pc where you cant replace any parts in...
But is your pc doing this since you've bought it? Or is it happening lately?
Cause when it's happening lately, i suggest you reinstall your whole pc...
I run WIN 2000- if that helps.
