help me obi 1
Ok, so my Windows XP is acting weird, and since my last topic was phased to Tech Support and it died...I thought i'd post here, where the people I know are.

So, how does one partition a drive so that I don't lose all the data I have (over 14 gigs of stuff) and so I can mess around with the Windows settings and stuff? I'm ignorant in the way of the Windows. Help the Windows Newb please.

As far as I know, the only way of partitioning the drives and not losing data is to backup the data to CDs or (in your case) to some other computer. With partitioning, you will lose all data on the HDD.

The only program I know of which can partition a drive, without deleting the data already on it, is Partition Magic.
Screenshot of my Disk Management window, this is how I've done it.

There's actually a guide on rr.org which describes the best way to partion a drive.
