Enter a Steam internet game (any - CS, TFC, DOD, whatever) and then type:

    status

in the console. This should display a list of everyone's IDs.

You have to have the first two numbers too, don't just use the last ones.

Actually there's no need to go in game. Go to you Steam folder in IExplore and look for Steam.txt (this is a log showing all your sessions). Then sift through it and look for a line similar to this

QUOTE

CsComm ConnectionPool Sep-18-2003 11:57:23.772 [1440] Found existing connection 1,216.144.226.197:27030 for 0:1:12213

where the bold red number is your SteamID. It will ALWAYS be in the form of X:X:XXXXX with "X" being the applicable numbers.

the first two numbers dont mean anything useful, its the last ones, eg mine is 0:1:2108

    my steamid is 2108

    Um

    Yes, they do.

Some people have 0_0, some have 0_1, and Im sure there's a 0_2 by now.

Try plugging only the last numbers in..( it won't work).

the 0:1, 0:0, etc. means content servers or something like that, anyway it doesnt affect your steam id.

They actually do matter. Each of the content servers will spew out the same "last set" of digits.
So two people may have the same "last set", ie: 0:0:1234 and 0:1:1234. All 3 sets of numbers make up your SteamID.

Mine is 0:0:1329, 8 away from "elite" .
