How could you? How COULD you?

You go to my school before I return for the next semester and show off NS without me there to play, how could you?

I feel left out

Hrm, this sorta looks to me like what I had suggested a bit back. They intended to do similar just before NS releases. Please, share with us what you have learned from the LAN party. Which devs were there(MonsE I assume)? Did they catch on quickly enough? Any major balance issues that will need to be worked out with all new people playing? Were they happy with the gameplay, or disapointed? Any other interesting bits of information?

Actually, these guys are among the most hardcore players I've ever seen. We showed them NS and most of them were like "Oh. Sounds cool. Give it to me.". Most of them were commanding and happily gunning us down within a few minutes. These guys play Tribes 2, one of the most complex games I've ever seen. NS was a cakewalk for them. That doesn't mean your average player would be able to pick up NS that fast, but man, these guys were good.

I only wish we could've gotten the word out to more people while we were there. Only a small percentage got to play, and it would've been great to try some bigger games.

Someone there (Trem_r) told us we should talk to his friend TommyD to see if he could do an NS map. Little did he know...

So a bunch of random people were there and they got to play NS, a mod most of them probably hadn't heard of.

While tons of dedicated NS fans refresh the forums and idle in IRC and they still haven't played it..

OMG, trem was there? well, i should have figured, with the LAN having a Tribes 2 and all. we were in a HLDM clan a while ago, and we hung out at some local LAN's in new jersey. that kid was wicked good at HLDM, and im sure he's equally as good in Tribes.

if i wasnt in the process of moving to my new apartment, i definitely would have been there.

    it's a small world!

Obviously, there was much more to it than this. We needed to show NS to people because they had never heard of it before, so that any learning curve issues could be noted and loked at before declaring the game ready for release. People who know about the game are not useful for this type of work.

Let's all try and use our brains for something besides keeping our ears from slamming together.

It's also a ton easier to sit over people's shoulders and guide them past the confusing or bug-ridden areas of the game, and help them have fun despite them. Letting you guys play would essentially mean the game has to be done, because we're not there with you to get you past the broken parts. We've been testing and showing NS to friends and small local LANs for many many months now, this is nothing new (Iron Lore, the F.o.R. LAN, etc.).

I'm sure it's painful to hear, but that's just the way it is!

Still would have loved to have been there, ah well, but... ** This is how rumours get started **

Whatever the problems are I'm sure you'll fix them. It couldn't have been that bad...

if that really happens u should find some new playtesters *hint hint* hehe

The bugs Flayra's talking about, most of the time, are bugs that happen under pretty specific circumstances, and if you know the "trick" to it, you can get around them for the time being, until Flay can fix it.

I have to see if there are any clans down here in Tidewater. Then there could be a LANfest here! Sounds like they had a great time with NS.

I have had some experience with Fps/Rts games so hopefully I will get used to this games features and style a little quicker.

so the answer is: yes, they know how to avoid them and that is why testing is progressing
