University Contradicting Themselves
<div class="IPBDescription">...exactly what it says on the tin.</div> Ok, so as one or two of you may know, i started my degree at uni this week, so the activities of this week have been organised for us to try and make us actually get off of our arses. Bad mistake. Tuesday was your average boring "Sit down, shut up and meet the faculty" kind of day, with an intro to the uni and stuff like that, pretty boring stuff. Today was a trip to one of the sister campus' of the university and to local art galleries and so on and tomorrow is an excursion to London to visit art and design galleries, and so on.
The whole point of this post is, well, i thought uni was about being independant, about making your own decisions and not being spoon-fed, then why the hell am i being told that i absolutely have to go on these trips and there's no way to back out, isn't that contradicting the point of being free to choose what we want to do with our time?
I know i really don't want to go visit any gallery or waste away a whole day sat in a sweaty coach just because some faculty member told me to.
Bah!

which uni are you at btw?
so yeah, i had a bad experience with my uni last few years and cant see my old uni for anything else than money grabbing idiots.
end of the day though, uni is what you make it.
im assuming your doing an arts based degree?
best advice i can offer...
the less preconceptions you have the better youll get on with them.
if you are going to want more than you think they can offer, leave sooner than later.
otherwise, knuckle down, ignore their contradictions/ get on with it, cos your paying alot of money for the privalige.
Depends which uni. Give it time, you might not have picked a crappy one. Of course, you probably did.
(Im not bitter! IM NOT. I didn't fail either! I just didnt apply myself! Yeah, thats right.)
The sooner I get out of this damn country and its stuck up untrusting educational establishment the better.
oh aye, and dont bother with the societies things unless you have trouble talking to people, or are bored.
