FFX was a really good remake, in my opinion, namely because they had come to rely entirely WAY too much on the ATB. FFVIII was the worst one though, the Guardian Forces were so unbearably cheap, even though you didn't need to use it to beat the final boss.

I've just bought Kingdom Hearts because it has Squaresoft's name on it, i'm regretting it more and more the more i play it. (Game timer around 7 hours now)

However, one could say Sephy destroyed the known world too, to a greater degree... I mean, what's the one thing you see after the credits? A few RedXIII types and a demolished and vacant Midgar... in the middle of FF6, Kefka messes up the world, but at least all the towns still have most of their people still living in em... his spell did half the damage, and the mako energy stopping his spell did the rest of the damage, but it was still all his fault...
Add 'poisoning Doma' to Kefka's list =P
I think Kefka wins not because he destroyed more, but because he actually seemed like he was a human being who WANTED to kill -- who DESIRED to cause others pain. He had an insatiable lust for power and invoked suffering just to watch people die... Sephiroth seemed like a soulless, nihilistic creature playing out Jenova's will -- a mere pawn with no emotions... if he took joy in killing, then he'd stand a chance of being the best villain :>

I found squall more sympathetic. Did anybody play "Ehrgeiz" which was made by Squaresoft? That was a really good game. It included Cloud, Sephiroth and some other FF characters, I think. It's been a long time since I have played it now though.
a) it was GORGEOUS. gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. graphics aside, I loved the designs for everything; the characters, the weapons, the settings... b) the soundtrack. not exactly 'easy listening', but it fit the game beautifully. c) gameplay was easy to pick up, even if it DID seem like a big game of Pokemon (Ifrit, I choose you! Hellfire, now!) d) It just brought back FANTASY. VII had a nice feel to it in terms of being dark and creating it's own world, X just really soaked me up in the environment and atmosphere. e) maybe an off tangent, but I was pleased with how they didn't cop out and go for a cheap 'happy' ending.
That said, I put X and VI on the same level for different reasons. VI by far had a better plot, deeper gameplay, and characters I really cared for. and speaking of e), don't EVEN go into the atrocity that is the FFX-2 Perfect Ending. If there's anything that makes me really really mad at Square.... that would be it.
I actually like FFX and FFVIII. I have played FFVII and I agree it was a good game, but I like the story of FFVIII and X more than the rest so far. (I have YET to try 6 but rest assured I will not judging from everyone's comments on it.)
