Creative ready room.
Is it possible to have your ready room *on top* of the map, with see through glass on it so you can look down through the glass while in the ready room and observe the game in a more creative way? Thought about it just now, wondering if it is possible. Plus, I would make the commander view *just* below the ready room floor so it doesnt interfear.

Is this possible?

Oh I just got another idea...

Could you have it so to join marines, you board an APC. The APC drives off into the distance, running you through the marine portal. You spawn on the APC as if you were just handed your weapon, and the APC pulls up to the main map, opens its doors, and lets you off.

But is any of this possible?

It is possible... and it is really fun. I did it in my map Ns_Gladius. As the name suggests, it was a gladiator arena map for my clan to practice on. The ready room was above the arena, and ppl could stand on the "glass" to see the fights below.. I didn't actually make glass though. I used a clip brush for better visibility.

The only thing to think about is your r_speeds, because players on the map may have to render the Ready Room area as well... see if you can use "Hint Brushes" when you make your Ready Room.

Again... the APC is possible... but in order for it to move, the entire model would have to be an entity. You can try it, but it may not be worth sacrificing you e-poly count. The entities will always be rendered.

If I have entitys left over (Ive decided to do a combat map) I might do both, the glass thing, and then instead of an APC I could just make it so its an elevator. You would go onto the elevator, then it would go down. When you go down it would run you through the portal, and you would then "Get your weapon equiped." After you hit the bottem, I could set a push func or whatever it is that pushes you a way on a map. I would place it down there so it would push them off and people couldnt get back on the elevator.

Wow, I'm gonna do that...sounds like a great idea.

keep in mind about the obs recall function

the rines will spawn in the info_team, and not in the loaction of the rine base

you could place a teleport below the spawn points so if the apc isnt there they fall a small distance into it then get teleported altho to provent them teleprting into it you would have to make 16 teleports or possible put the teeleport brush at an angle so no 2 pl get teleported at the same time.

Or you could put in a full amount of info_teams at the marine spawn and just killtarget the apc ones at map start.

Ooo! Or I could make it so the APC pulls you up to the map when your *not* in a team, and when it "pushes" you into the spawn then you get "equiped" with your weapon. That way the info_team_start thinger or whatever is inside the spawn thing. Darn I'm good.
