Weird Problem

<div class="IPBDescription">Compiled map</div> Ive put together a pretty good looking map if i should say so myself but not entirely finished. Unfortunately i have a problem... when i made 2nd hiveroom and made a compile for testing purposes(zhlt 253-17 reports no problems and the compile runs smoothly for about 2 hours with -full vis and -extra light on my 1.4 GHz TB 512 MBram, the map is fairly large and complex) and went in to NS and tried loading the map through console (/map ns_skylabs) it crashes without ever fully loading the map, to windows XP desktop with a 'send/dont send'-error.

The weird part is that throughout building the map with hammereditor i have compiled many times and ran around looking at my map, testing stuff here and there with no problems. Now all of a sudden it refuses to work in any way. Ive tried to copy all newly added architecture and entities since last succesful compile, into a new map and compiled it and there was no problems. Ive tried deleting all new entities or suspicious brushes even though hammer dont report any problems with invalid structures or empty entities or anything at all, but the map keeps crashing without ever fully loading, to desktop with send/dont send error.

I hope someone have experienced something similar and found out what to do about it.
Thx in advance.

I'm not 100% sure what your problem is, but it sounds like one I had a little while ago. In all odds, you probably have been skimming around some limit for quite awhile, and just now went over it. If you run the -chart command on the compile set up, you'll beable to see of you are over any limits. However, since you said that the compile ran smothly then this is probably wrong.

Another possability is you may be missing an important game play entity (ei: info_gameplay or an info_mapinfo). However, if nothing was wrong before, then this would also be wrong. But it couldn't hurt to look again.

While I didn't know what the root of my problem was, it went away after I got rid of all my trigger_randoms. If you have any trigger randoms in your map, try hiding them, then compiling with visable objects only. I have no idea why this fixed my error (I was probably using the trigger_randoms wrong, but no error poped up in worldcraft) but maby it will work for you.

    I hope this helps...

    ok a few things

    run a FULL complie with

    extra rad
    full vis
    -chart
    -esitmate

then post the hole, unedited complie log file (if u use a batch comipler, such as batch complie 1.4 from counter map - the log file will be in the map folder with .log extion, just change the name to have a .txt extion)

also, consider passing the map through opt_plns.exe - see sticky, as this will bring your hard limits down
