Ns Combat Mapping Entities...

Well I thought I would bring this up, because, since NS:Combat is pretty much just a fun version of the real mod. I was thinking if maybe we could get special entities or extra stuff to ehance the NS:C experience.

One of my ideas was for the spawns to be activated and deactivated sort of like dustbowl for TFC. So we can have zones for when people capture something else. The mod doesnt have to change. But if the mappers are given more entities and more possibilities, the types of games people can create for the NS:C version would be unthinkable. When I was making fun maps you were very limited on what you could use to make it "fun", this is my proposal to the NS developer team to give the mappers more entities to work with to create more imaginative maps.

I know this will be an interesting one, so maybe we can have mappers post what new entities YOU would like to see be added for the "combat mode" version of NS.

Of course the info_gameplay entity will need a switch of combat mode, or real mode, or maybe an entire .fgd to coincide with the new combat mode. So new mappers won't get confused.

    I agree, a nice CTF <b>style</b> option for the map would pwn.


    <b>Edit:</b> By ctf, I mean capturing 5 objectives/flags or so, captured in sequence. take DoD for example.

    Yes, NS:C doesnt have to be just search and destroy deathmatch, mappers should be allowed to add strategy to their maps or just make it plain and simple deathmatch.

    Strategy would make it even more playable, Deathmatch gets tiresom, whereas something as simple as capturing objectives makes it playable over and over again.

    Well, honestly I play DoD more strategically and team oriented than aliens in NS. Just make it necessary to have more than one rambo solo player to capture an area/objective. It's a pity that there are no more strategical waepons in NS, like snip0r rifles (i know... the second attack is already 'in use'), remote satchel charges, alien trip mines... ok, maybe it is also ok to stick with trigger_hurts here and there or doors to close off areas of the map.

    A entity system not unlike the QWTH system being implemented would be fantastic. The possibilities in that were awsome. I mean, who wouldn't want to see spazball for NS? ! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Fully customisable win/lose/gameplay objectives would be fantastic, opens up so many possibilities for NS:C, while not implementing a full/new gameplay style.     But it will never be done because when Flay has killed all bugs in the new game mode HL2 will be out and the team will have so much to do not to stay behind other mods when it comes to moving to the new engine that if you ask him to implement it he will call you an ignorant moron. Er... I guess.

    Hmmf. NS Spazball. Marine vs Alien vs Marine vs Alien vs Boobietrap capture the ball and take it into the enemy's base gameplay. Wouldn't that be something.

    But yeah, that's a lot of work for the HL engine... It might even be made easier by HL2. Who knows.

    could make some tanks to marines go in and rush and ramapge all or a apc to carry the ppl safe.

    I seriously doubt vehicles in NS would work. But there are other entities that could be looked upon. But it does seem as if Flayra wants to make it plain and dumb deathmatch.

    A train at the very most. The HL engine does NOT like vehicles when you've latency over 2ms.
